Not a 4* at best a 3*
We have returned from a two week holiday at this hotel and what you are about to read may seem to be totally negative however there were some good points to our hotel - the staff, for the most part, were exceptionally hard working and friendly throughout the hotel.
We arrived late at night so check in was really quick. We had booked a larger family room as there were 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children aged 15 & 12 so effectively we were 4 adults). We got a room which had a double bed, single bed and a camp bed. Not what I was expecting nor what I would call a larger family room. Reception told me that that is a larger family room in this hotel, confirmed by the Thomas Cook rep the next day. Not off to a good start. Other than the size, the room was adequate - it had wardrobes and some drawers but no where to put your suitcases. We had a powerful shower, bath and plenty of hot water. Towels were replaced and the room cleaned every day. Towels were provided for use at the pool but everyone had the same colour! There was a fridge in the room that was supposed to be stocked twice a week with water and cartons of juice. We found ours being replaced everyday. We learnt that we could keep the bottles as they could be refilled from machines dotted about the hotel which saved buying bottles from the on-site shop or the cheaper supermarket less than 5 minutes down the road. We had a balcony overlooking the restaurants which I gather was a bonus as those overlooking the road were very noisy and some overlooked the next door building site. Other guests complained that the local Mosque woke them up around 5am with the call to prayer (I never heard it at this time of day until someone pointed it out, then I heard it every morning) although the later ones were audible but not enough to disturb the day. The biggest disturbance at that time was the cockerel across the road!
The ONLY air-conditioning in the hotel is in your room and it only works if you leave your room key in the slot. When I asked reception for a second key for us I was told they only had one for emergencies.
The pool area was very cramped, could even be called cosy. There was not an awful lot of room and the early morning craze of sun bed reserving - by the English I hasten to add, made getting up before 7:30 essential if you wanted a bed, earlier if you wanted an umbrella as well. If you left a gap between the beds, be assured that someone would fit an extra bed in between even if it involved pushing your beds aside to make them fit. Sun bed reservation is not allowed!!! On a number of occasions I saw guest relations come round and remove towels from unoccupied beds but not if there was likely to be a confrontation. Apparently they have a fine pile of towels The pool area is however very clean and the cleaners walk round several times a day cleaning up. The pool is just large enough although would be better if they stopped inflatables as they all blew to one end, even air beds with people, on were blown down to one end when ever there was any wind at all
The pool bar was the only bar in the hotel that served alcohol. It was open from 10am until 11pm and on most occasions there was only one person serving. You can imagine what that was like. If, you were a good looking female, you were able to go to the opposite side where you got preferential treatment! That being said, the staff that served behind the bar worked exceptionally hard and you only had to wait a short while before being served - you may not get a full glass or what you ordered and it may be slammed down on the counter, but you had something!! Sultans Bar (as seen in a travellers photo) was never open despite the number of holiday makers at the hotel.
Entertainment. I suppose the best thing I can say about the entertainment is that the staff worked hard and were very friendly. The choice of music blaring out of the speakers from 10am was loud, repetitive and failed to account for the customer base. It seemed as they only had one playlist because they repeated the songs 4 or 5 times a day everyday although this changed 2 days before we left and they played new music including hits by Gary Glitter....
The day time pool games and other games were limited in imagination but the staff worked hard trying to involve holiday makers and they did at least provide some amusement to those around the pool. The evening entertainment however was woeful. Again staff tried hard but there is nothing good I can say about it other than the best bit was the kids disco.... . I can only assume they have a limited budget to work with.
Breakfast was just about okay - self service system but, for a supposed 4/5* hotel! there was no 'egg chef' cooking omelettes just fried eggs, although there were two choices of scrambled (bulk cooked) and there were hard boiled eggs. Coffee was from a machine (and not really coffee) and the juices were not all that clever and tasted more like squash, if in fact they were available. We were lucky in that the first waiter we came across was Hassan. Exceptionally friendly and really hard working - there was nothing he wouldn't do, he always made sure we had a table outside for evening dinner!
Lunch was okay be it in the snack bar or the restaurant. Lovely soups (yes I do mean soup) lovely salads and nice meat/fish dishes to go with them or with the rice / potato / pasta.
Dinner was between 7 and 9. We preferred to eat about 8:15 but we soon found out that if you weren't there at 7, there was a good chance that they would run out of various things before you sat down. On one occasion they had run out of pasta, jacket potato and the gorgeous Turkish flat bread that they do, before we sat down. Despite complaining to the restaurant manager and Guest Relations, the next day they still ran out of the bread, something that occurred 4 times in that week. Interestingly though, despite the head chef stating they had run out of the bread, the restaurant manager managed to find some within 10 minutes - were they saving it for their own meals I wonder? There were other things that weren't available if you went later which seemed to imply they wanted everyone to eat at 7. That would have proved interesting!
The food they did provide was good however the choice was limited and repetitive. There were chefs cooking meat or fish but these were slow in being cooked and sometimes you had to wait for 5 minutes whilst fresh food was cooked.
Despite having made several complaints about this shortage of food, nothing was done about it by either the hotel staff not the Thomas Cook representative.
There was an al-a-carte restaurant twice a week which you had to book in advance. However, it only served fish and you only had two choices of mains - eat it or don't.
When we booked, the brochure said there was a doctor at he hotel. Unfortunately my daughter developed earache and when we made enquiries, it transpires that there is only a nurse on site who will call the doctor (at a cost of 180TL and you have to pre pay - August 2014) if needed. We walked over to the pharmacy where we were given ear drops and anti-biotics over the counter (at a cost of 30TL) and this seems to be working.
Having attended the welcome meeting where I listened to the presentation and booked a number of trips one of which was a jeep safari combined with a boat trip to Cleopatra's island where we could visit the sandy beach, there were sun beds and umbrellas. The photo in the brochure shows a nice yellow sand beach which , combined with the history of the island appealed to us. Imagine our surprise when we got to the island to find the sandy beach roped off (this was not shown in the brochure) leaving approximately 18" between the rope and the sea! We were not told you could not go on the beach. Hundreds of people had already made the journey so the few sun beds that were about had already been taken. Again, not what was expected, and in my opinion, a total waste of time and money. When I discussed this with the TC representative, she said she couldn't mention everything in her presentation and that we should have been informed there was another beach (although not a yellow sandy beach) over the other side of the rocks. I could get a beach 100 yds from the hotel, I didn't need to spend any money to go to one!
All in all, we have had a relaxing holiday. We've met some nice people (and some not so nice exceptionally rude people). We have all enjoyed ourselves but a lot has been self made enjoyment with little input from the hotel.
I spoke to a number of people who said they had been to this hotel a number of times before and it was fantastic hence returning again, however they all said they would never return again. I understand the hotel will be having a refit in the off season. If this is the case, it will need to be extensive to bring it to a 4*. I feel we had at best a 3* hotel this year.

Was a great holiday, hotel was very clean, the only moan I have is the staff in the cafe de Paris wasn't very friendly, and if they put butter in the snack bar that would be great, nothing worse than a dry roll, the pool side bar staff were miserable.the entertainment staff were brill.overall a great time was had.

Great family holiday for a super price!
Great holiday but rooms were a little small for the 4 of us, although so much to do in the hotel that we literally used it to sleep. Food super with lots of choice. Al a carte resturant was really good food but service could have been a little better. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Entertainment was good and involved the kids. Didn't use the gym so can't comment on these facilities. Pool cleaned regularly and really good, albeit busy because of the time of year. Didn't have transfers included so used sun transfers and these were excellent, would recommend and a lot cheaper than the transfer from Thomas cook - Would highly recommend.

Poor service, poor gym, company beach ten min walk
Poor service from staff, bar staff ignore you regardless of nationality, reception staff answer phones before serving you, food all inclusive poor, chips chips and more chips, even breakfast is sauté potatoes, we eat out all the time, gym is 3 treadmills 2 trainers and 3 bikes, useless we paid £50 for the week each to use another hotels gym as ideal gym is so poor, pool always overcrowded with people reserving sum beds with towels very early in morning around 7ish, room small dark, cant see in any mirrors, beds ok except cover which is rough and feels rock hard, we asked for sheets as blanket i wouldnt give to an animal. We spent as much time as possible away from the hotel as possible, gym poor, food poor, room clean but small and dark, company beach good walk from hotel, coffee served in paper cups both outside and in restaurant, drinks served in plastic small cups, all inclusive its not!! Entetainment poor, would never stay here again, currently still on holiday, this is not 4 star its 2-3 star, very disappointed!!!! Only staff which are pelight are the cleaning staff. Stayed September 2013 and had a fantastic holiday could not wait to go back.
Returned May 2014 what a disappointment. The hotel manager had changed and so had the majority of the staff. the entertainment was very poor and undermined our intelligence. Food was not that special and this was not helped by the service, they certainly lacked any kind of training. Tables were not cleared and if they were you were, the staff did not replenish for they next guests. Wandered around dinning clean taking cutlery from other tables.
During our stay there was a national disaster in Turkey amnd the country went in to mourning for 3 days. No entertainment, no music. Really appreciate that but this did not stop the children's disco or the nite club where despite by all inclusive you paid for drinks after 11.0pm. Is this a country in mounring or a hotel making it's own rules too suite.
Found the management staff happy to accept praise (as we did in September 2013) but not interested in complaints. Would we recommend Definatly NOT

Not 5 star
Exceptionally clean hotel with comfortable bedroom.Food choice very limited and Luke warm, we ate out several times which we do not ever do. lacked indoor bar for alcoholic drinks, despite weather rainy you could only get an alcoholic drink from pool bar day and night in plastic glass..and then had to carry it upstairs to sit in indoor bar, really not good enough.Bar staff could be rude at times but restaurant staff excellent. Overall a 3star hotel not a 5star, we would not return.
