We chose to stay here after having a great holiday on the main land, as we me up drive on the coach the hotel looked fantastic, and that continued when we went into the reception and around the complex. But that's were it stopped, we went into our room to find the was only 3 singles and when we booked a family of 4, we contacted reception and they said they would send some-one over to sort it out. Some-one came 5 hours later at 11pm with only sheets, he told us he would go and get a bed straight away, we are still waiting. contacted reception the morning after and nothing happened, Told rep and he got it sorted straight away 3 days after we got there.
There are a lot of people from other countries which we didn't mind, but everything is geared towards the french and the french let you know. This be said we found the french very rude (could say other words) we had such a bad time cause of this. The food was very poor, i eat anything that is put in front of me, with being a head chef i know my food, i would not let my best friend eat most of it, my family lived on rice and pancakes all week. We heard other people saying the same, not just the English. i would not recommend staying here at all

Lazy Holiday in Djerba Tunisia
On the recommendation of our daughter we booked at the El Mouradi Derba Menzel in Djerba and were not disappointed. Having been to mainland Tunisia on 3 occasions this was the best by far. The food and staff were excellent in both the restaurants and bars. The beds both around the pools and on the the beach were plentiful, the pools were ideal both for young and old. Entertainment was available during the day for all ages along with various sporting activites, the evening entertainment was held outside but was mainly for the young.I understand the disco was very good for those who had the energy left at 10.30.I would recommend this holiday to anyone who likes a quiet time but have the facilities for a livelier time if required

Well done Thomas Cook. We booked this hotel and then a week before departure read some worrying comments plus riots in Djerba over some waste plant. I e-mailed Thomas Cook and they were fantastic - putting my mind at rest - they were professional and efficient.
The flight with Nouvelair was effortless - excellent legroom and quick and efficient ticketing etc. I also have to say how impressed we were with Manchester Jetparks - inexpensive and again efficient and effortless! Around £30 to park for a week with frequent transport to and from the terminal.
The El Mouradi was superb. Clean with helpful, friendly staff. Tip 5 dinar (a couple of £) at the beginning and something each day and you will have amazing service. Try the barbecue lunches - fantastic setting overlooking the beach and freshly prepared food. Couldn't fault the starter salads and choice of creme caramel, fruit salad or fresh fruit desserts. Main course kebabs, chicken, steak, veg etc etc just delicious!
Breakfasts were good with chefs preparing pancakes, omelettes etc to order and choices on the buffet - also freshly baked rolls plus croissants and pastries or toast cereals if you prefer.
Main restaurant dishes for lunch and dinner were not as high standard - you will never go hungry but some of the options did not look too great - lots of fat on the lamb and the fish curry was inedible with the bones. There were pasta chefs to order and roast meats some nights. The desserts made up for the mains!
Entertainments were great. The best bar by far was Sunrise - at the beach - unfortunately the only bar open after midnight and you had to pay for the drinks - but heh you are on holiday - the DJ was excellent!
Only thing I would say is limited communication - nobody said that if you waited with your cases a buggy would take you to your room! The map of the resort was ridiculous - a more detailed map would have been appreciated = the one given did not show where anything was located. It took a couple of days to suss out where to go and what was there.
The square pool was best to swim in as the others were too salty!
There wereout 50 cats roaming about but they were no bother - my husband hates cats as a rule but he began to like them especially the kittens as they did not bother anyone. They were all well fed with leftovers and well loved by staff and guests alike!
Throughout the day at set times there are fresh pizzas, crepes, doughnuts - again you have to find them but once you know they are there every day at the same time.
Tip your drinks waiter a few dinar and the drinks will flow - he will remember your drinks and will ensure they are topped up till you say stop!
I would cetainly recommend this holiday to all - young and old - there is something for everyone!

excellent holiday in tunisia
my wife and i booked this holiday to tunisia hamamet staying at the "les orangiers". we had read the reviews and as always took them with a pinch of salt.over the years we have booked with thomas cook and have never been dissappointed. yes on occasions the food as been below par or the facility as not been quite as good or the location lacking but on balance thomas cook have always led the way with package holidays. anyone going to the" les orangiers" in hammamet tunisia will enjoy the location and amenities, the staff are great and helpfull, but please be respectfull.the food maynot please everyone but there is a great variety and i can assure you most people booking these holidays do not eat aswell back home. relax your on holiday, enjoy the sites and surroundings as we did, so much so we have booked again for christmas and newyear and can't wait to get back.

Great holiday but can get a bit noisy round the pool
Our flight was delayed for over 3 hours which meant we arrived at the hotel around 3.am. No worries food offered and taken to room quickly and efficiently.
Room was massive with 2 floors and a third floor private balcony. Beds very comfy and kept spotlessly clean throughout 2 week stay.
Buffet Restaurant had good choice of food and service was good. Can get very busy at peak times but a modest tip to a friendly waiter will get your table reserved for you each evening...he leaves a couple of glasses of wine out so the table looks occupied. Be reasonable though and give him a rough idea of the time you normally eat.
All inclusive drinks and meals readily available and good. Super cocktails in the cocktail bar.
Entertainment all day and trips out etc all organised by hotel staff who are fab.
Been on a few camel safaris but this was the best. Even rode them in the sea!
All in all had a super holiday and would definitely return.

Great value for money.
We were a bit worried after having read previous reviews about the El Mouradi Djerba Menzel, which were not very generous about the holiday. We found the whole package really good and would definitely recommend it for mature couples. Our one complaint would be that weren't enough sunbeds around the main pool so we did find difficulty in finding suitable under cover areas or else get up at 6am and bag a bed with umbrella! There is loads to do for all ages all day and every day so would also be ok for families.
