Tunisia is a country that opened its doors to tourism relatively recently, and yet in only two or three decades it has become a major holiday favourite to challenge its rivals Morocco and Egypt as most popular North African holiday destinations.

Holidays to Tunisia
30 years ago holidays to Tunisia were regarded as an exotic dream in terms of tourism. But the country's potential was assisted due to its role in one of Hollywood’s most successful films, Star Wars, which was filmed inland near the desert village of Matmata. Fans of the film began to make their pilgrimages in increasing numbers, so Tunisia recognised the benefits of welcoming foreign visitors to its glorious beachside towns and villages. The result has seen a steady development of Tunisia resorts with an amazingly diverse choice of new Tunisia hotels, with cheap holidays to Tunisia or bargain all inclusive deals available.
Tunisia Holiday Resorts
As the many thousands of visitors who book flights to Tunisia each year can testify, Tunisia holidays promise a wonderful break in beautiful surroundings. Whether you want to brave the blazing summer heat or relax in the warm winter sun, one thing is for sure: Tunisia's long stretches of golden sand and clear-blue Mediterranean waters are well worth enjoying. Resorts like Hammamet (and neighbouring Hammamet Yasmine), Port El Kantaoui, Sousse, and Skanes, are well situated by stunning beaches, but are all incredibly well served by local amenities & facilities, making Tunisia holiday deals even better value for money.
Embrace Culture on Tunisia Package Holidays
But sometimes we all need a break from the beach, no matter how idyllic it may be, and this is where Tunisia package holiday deals really come to life. For those that like to get out & about, and sample something more of what you might call traditional life, then Tunisia has also recognised its amazing potential in this area too. Excursions that you might like to experience include otherworldly desert safaris that take in not only miles of Sahara Desert (which is an experience in itself) but also the aforementioned Matmata (see where Luke Skywalker lived) but also magical oases, and even traditional Bedouin encampments!
Tunisia Holidays Are Full of History

Tunisia is also actually a major point of historical interest, having been occupied for decades by the Romans, who spent so long there that they built several temples and even a full-sized 3rd century amphitheatre at El Djem that seated 35,000 spectators. Only the Coliseum in Rome was a bigger example of this kind of Roman structure, and as El Djem's is so incredibly well preserved, it's well worth a visit.
