Perfect for young couple. The holiday was excellent! The Hotel Caribe was a beautiful hotel with lovely facilities and brilliant food on site. We chose half-board holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. The proximity to PortAventura was great and was within walking distance to local amenities and the beach.. Would definitely recommend. what a fab holiday wish we could have stayed longer From the begining to the end it was just fab at the hotel caribe and for the kids entry to costa caribe water park for the whole of our stay was a bonus if you have not been to salou before it is a must to stay in one of portaventuras hotels October 17, 2012
not as good as it was. we came to hotel caribe about 5 years ago,and found the location ideal, about 10/15 walk into town/beach etc or catch the train up to the waterpark and themepark.there was no private beach this time as they have sold it on,you can organize a transfere yourself but it very expensive.we found the food not as good as last time( we all got food poisioning)??? but we had food/snacks and drinks else where too. The room service/cleaning was not up to scratch either. The theme park is fantastic,as is the water park, while we were there ,no entertainment was on offer, either at the park or at the hotel on a night,so the evenings could be long,we found a big increase in drinks/snacks etc, both in the hotel and the parks,so take your own. there is no kettle as is the norm in spain.(pack a travel kettle) overall the price we got was fair, considering the day prices to get into the parks + no cueing for tickets !!! go during the week,as weekends get very busy!!. Fantastic holiday., Loved the theme parks and great to have free entry. Near enough to walk into Salou. Drinks and snacks very expensive on site but had a fridge in room. Food wasa great and the dine around option provided variety. We went to Gold River one evening and the concierge dropped yo off and picked you up later in the evening. Very impressed with the whole package. It was our second visit and can't wait to return (if prices still as good). October 11, 2012
Great all round holiday, enjoyed by young children and teenagers! We had a fantastic time here, we were a party of 6, 2adults, a 14 and15 year olds and 5 and 6 year olds. There is plenty for everyone! The theme park and water park were amazing you could never get bored, as you have passes into both i would recommend going to the theme park after 6 pm! It's cooler and the waiting time is shorter for rides. The food is lovely at the hotel and with a couple of fussy eaters we still didn't have a problem. Definitely going back! August 12, 2012
Best holiday ever This may not of been the best place ive holidayed but overall it was the best holiday the resort had plenty do do, the accommodation was spotless the food was excellent. I will definately be going back next year. July 16, 2010
Family holiday with grandchildren Having read previous reviews of the Hotel Caribe at Portaventura I decided to book a week's holiday for my family comprising 4 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 4. We had a wonderful time, great hotel and lovely food. A train took us directly to the gates of the Portaventura Theme Park & Water Park in less than 5 minutes and we never had any problems with getting a place on them. They run every 15mins, saving a walk of about 10 minutes. It was not too crowded but as to be expected there were more people were around at the week-end. Use your fast track pass which comes in the package I booked with Thomas Cook at the Caribe Hotel. The hotel had great facilities, pools and entertainment for the children with excellent staff. We were provided with a Spa pack containing essential toiletries which saved having to take too much. The room had a super king size bed, a bed settee, tv cabinet, wardrobe with safe, bathroom and a terrace with table and chairs. The cleaners washed and cleaned the floors daily and changed the beds during the week. For us, a small minus point was that new neighbours arrived above at 2am and it was very noisy with them moving cases and getting settled. Perhaps we were unlucky and had an inconsiderate family above. When you wish a break away from the hotel, it is about 20 mins walk into Salou where there is an excellent range of shops and a sandy beach with for the children. As a 50+ couple taking daughter and her family in two rooms, I can honestly say we had one of the best holidays with something for us all. July 2, 2010
Week in Portaventura The hotel Caribe is a nice hotel complex. The food quality and choice is excellent, as are the resturant staff. Where the holiday let its self down was on two points. 1. The transfers to the theme park, beach club and water park seem to run at there own timetable and not the published one, and there is no queing system. The Spanish just rush on in front of everyone. 2. They advertise that you can Dine Around. This give you the chance to see the other hotels in the complex. We tried this and out of six resturants only two were open that week and one was at our hotel. So we booked the one at Hotel Portaventura and they provide transfers. This we booked and were told to come to reception at 6pm. Eventualy we got our transfer at 6.45pm after asking where it was to the customer service desk and conciege (neither of whom could tell us). When we did eventualy get to the resturant we were told that no booking was made for us but we did get a table. So to sum up, Nice place but the management is dismal. Staff on the ground are great though, Waiters, cleaners and kids club staff are very helpfull. June 18, 2010
