Good for families
We stayed for a week during August as a family of two adults, two teenagers, and two nine year olds. We all had a lovely time, and found the hotel clean and welcoming. The other guests where mainly Spanish, and a lot of the entertainment was in Spanish, but that was not a problem, and we never felt excluded.
We were a little concerned ahead of travelling due to some reviews that we read from other English guests, but we really couldn't understand how anybody could complain.
The hotel is very big, but the facilities are good and the pools are huge. We never had any problems getting a Sunbed, and found that the idea of the 'towel police' worked well as any sunbeds unused for over half an hour had towels removed to allow others to use the beds - which seems fair enough to me.
The English guests are given white wrist bands, and other nationalities are given different colours (red for Spanish, Green for German etc..) The rep explained that this was to assist the staff so that if you needed assistance and you were dealing with a non english speaking member of staff that they would know who to direct you to for assistance.
Whilst we were there I did hear a couple of English people moaning - but we couldn't fault it.
I think that this is a great hotel for families, and we would certainly consider going back.
As others have said, the area is very Spanish - so dont go if you want english pubs and fish and chips - but if you want a relaxing family holiday with a great pool, and a huge beach in a quiet area then the hotel is great.
May not be ideal if you are a couple looking for somewhere with lots of things going on locally.

Not bad for a VERY out of the way stay.
The main photo shown is NOT Punta Umbria Beach Resort, it is Punta Umbria Enebrales, NOT the one Thomas Cook place guests in.
Great room - clean, roomy and a great view.
Wonderful food, and ample choice for even the fussiest eaters.
A huge, brilliant pool with ample showers and sun beds.
Great choice of drinks at bar and not restricted to local brands.
Only 2 drinks at a time from the bar (WHAT !!) which mean far more queuing than in necessary. (BAR CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT!)
The hotel is very isolated - a bonus for many, boredom city for those with kids.
The chairs, tables and cutlery in the restaurant were, at best, reasonably clean most of the time, twice we had to actually move tables due the state of the chairs and table.
The EXTREMELY loud non stop music and announcements from the speakers around the pool (why!), we actually buried a speaker in the end because we got so cheesed off with it.
I would hesitate to recommend this hotel, I think Thomas Cook really should make clear how isolated this place is, and the lack of entertainment etc, AND the bar closes at midnight - Sorry, I thought I was on holiday !

Super hotel in unspoilt Andalucia
We have just spent a fabulous week here. After reading reviews on Tripadvisor we were really worried about going and thought we'd turned up at the wrong hotel. Yes, it's huge but in a very understated way. The rooms are large and very clean, the public areas are also kept very clean. There seems to be no end of staff tidying up. The restaurants provide a good choice daily and although the food can, on occasion, not be piping hot I never found this a problem. At breakfast and lunch they do tend to get slightly noisy but you really only grab a quick bite. Drinks are available at the self service pool bar during the day. The staff are friendly and although they don't speak fluent English they will try their best and I certainly never saw any preference being given to Spanish over English, although I certainly did see some horrendous bad manners from some English tourists towards the staff. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this resort. We travelled with a toddler and would equally be happy to go without children. Huelva is a 20 minute bus ride costing 1.50 away and worth a visit, beautiful architecture and all the major chain stores. Thank you also to Thomas Cook. We were the only people on our flight coming here and were transferred in a private car and it was a fabulous start to the holiday

Not as bad as some reviews
Just came back from holiday and thought I would have to post a review.
Surprised as flew with Easy jet but flights both left early so hooray. only downside is no meal provided on our flight as it wasn't a TC Flight.
Hotel is part of a BIG complex so don't think of it as a quiet retreat we had a room with a view over the pool (nice view# but also could be noisy at night with outside entertainment until midnight. Other people we spoke to had rooms on the other side and didn't hear a thing.
Food - the food on the whole was good with lots of choice, visiting the 4 restaurants in turn #as other reviews on trip advisor state#. The hot food was not piping hot but warm. The things we found were that the meat tended to be rare and the fish well done, but we always had plenty of choice. Mealtimes can be noisy but as I have said it is a big resort.
Activities - 11-1 and then 4-6. quite a few options for people
Room - was fine cleaned everyday. Did have an issue with the shower head would not stay in place #small niggle# was reported but not sorted before we let
Service - Good service I must looked English if I tried any Spanish the Staff answered me in English ...LOL all were Helpful.
Trips - we booked the Seville trip 40 Euros a head which turned out to be a coach ride to Seville and then do your own thing. Personally thought this was expensive. But Seville Cathedral was nice #8 Euros admission for an adult) so just be aware what your paying for. The Safari Trip in our opinion was worth going on Land rover safari in morning and a river trip in the afternoon.
Overall found it to be bigger than I expected. The pool was fab! played water polo/water basket most days. if you are looking for a holiday with a far bit going on then it may be for you.

This was a wonderful hotel and the food was great there were different styles of food over a few days American, Spanish, Italian and there is a Gala Dinner but you have to book this. The only down side to this hotel is that we found the Staff rude to the british & not very helpful.

I have never been treated so poor in all my life, it was as if we was the scum of the earth. food was uncooked, service was no where to be seen. the so called rep was never in to help. she was always away, when we did see her she was to intoxicated to talk. the entertainment was all in spanish and far to late, none of the staff spoke a word of english.. i shall be writing to thomas cook everything.
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESORT
