Good place for family with child
We had a lovely family holiday in the Playa de la Arena. It was a nice and quiet place. The hotel room need a bit renovation but the hotel services and facilities were superb. There was very clean. Food was standard but diverse. Each day was nice thematic dinner (cooking from different countries; each day different). We explored Tenerife and discovered amaizing spaces. We love Tenerife very much!

Everything on a beautiful site in Tenerife near beach and local amenities to ensure a pleasurable stay
We had a lovely holiday at the beautiful Be Live Hotel Playa Arena in Tenerife. The reception area was particularly striking. The site was maintained to a high degree of cleaniness and the service from the staff was first class across the board.
We went all-inclusive and found it very good value for money. The meal times ensured that you were not rushed (eg the evening meal was served from 7.30 pm to 10pm ) We had read some of the reviews that complained about the food, but, whilst it was not cordon bleu standard, we enjoyed it, particularly the constant variety, both hot and cold at every meal. There were always delicious salads, desserts, fresh fruit and drinks available and there were other places on the site where drinks and snacks could be had outside of meal times
The hotel was very handy for the beach, local shops and bars and only half an hour's walk away from the lovely little town of Los Giganes. We also used the local bus service that ran from the road in front of the site to travel to other places on the island.
We would definitely go there again and have already recommended it to others

Winter break with family
Family of 5, 3 sisters in their 40s, mum and granddaughter aged 20. Just sooo relaxing. Weather sunny early 70s every day. A heated and non heated swimming pool was ideal. Loads of loungers to take your pick from at any time of the day. Upgraded with a suite with a gorgeous sea view. Numberous holiday makers have returned to this hotel and we understand why. Great place to chill, loads of choices for food breakfast lunch and dinner. Fab place in reception to people watch and check in on line with unlimited wifi sipping unlimited gin n tonics! Cheers

Will not return - poor food, poor location, not a lot going on
Holiday time - Christmas 2013.
Family - 2 adults, 3 children - 5yrs, 3yrs, 2yrs
Food: chips, chips, and chips! Kids were quite lethargic due to the poor food selection, not a lot of labels on the random looking food they prepared, not enough vegetables like carrots - just appeared once in the week lunch and dinner. The themed buffets weren't good, not enough real good authentic choice on the Spanish, Italian nights etc. Desserts were the same all week and nothing special.
Activity: if you like to take a stroll after dinner, visit local bars or cafes etc...this is NOT the place to go. 3 minutes one way, 2 minutes the other and you've exhausted the shops and eateries. On Monday night everything closed! Pools were ok, childrens one to the back of the flume, in the shade and therefore freezing. Only space for 6 sunbeds next to this pool which isn't really acceptable so either you are all by the pool or not at all. Childrens club only for 6yrs plus so no chance of enjoying a massage and having any child care for an hour. The club is ok, averagely organised, some climbing jungle outside which is falling apart. Needed to get the janitor to get plastic ties to fix the netting to the poles before a child fell 5 foot to the ground. Evening entertainment average, nto overly inclusive they don't see kids and encourage participation (they did in CalaTarida Ibiza - amazing place) which was our comparison from last year. It stopped at 9.45pm and then a show at 10 which always looked poor.
Most disappointed all round as it was Christmas, not festive in the slightest, no one really dresses up, saw 2 Christmas hats which were sitting on top of the lifts in the reception and that's it. Nothing special for Christmas day or days either side. Total let down, never again.
Internet access in reception was limited - some kids had brought laptop, headphones and some kind of gearsticks and literally playing car games all afternoon. If lots of people using the free wifi - then you couldn't get access so kept trying for 30 mins before I could connect with family. Wifi in rooms didn't work.
Best days were when we left and went to Loro Park and Siam Park - recommend those and stay elsewhere.
Best for those who want to get away from Christmas and do nothing all week?

Bad staff, dodgy food, terrible, avoid.
Despite paying for all inclusive package, we had to pay to eat out for almost every meal during our stay as the dining in the hotel had undercooked eggs and pork every morning - it was also closed on our last morning for poor hygeine standards.
Members of staff was frequently rude (Reception, towel hire, bar). Maids came into the room despite the 'do not disturb' sign being on.
We booked a double room (couple mid twenties on holiday for Valentines) but were put in a twin with both beds on wheels with no breaks, which meant we ended up rolling away from each other every single night. NOT what you want as a young couple in love celebrating Valentines!!
A vast shortage of sunbeds around the pools meant we had no choice but to put our beds out on the balcony and sunbathe there. We did not have a single day where we could get a sunbed during the whole trip and often saw many other people struggling to find a vacant one when we visited the bar/restaurant.
I.e we couldn't use the pool, sunbathing facilities or restaurant we had already paid for. It was a waste of money. Do NOT recommend. Would NOT return.

Great Hotel! Great Location! Fantastic Weather!
The Be Live Playa La Arena is an excellent resort situated on the warm west coast of Tenerife. I stayed there for a week starting the end of January and except for one overcast period the weather was sunny and warm. Even at night the temperature never dropped below 18degrees. I flew to Tenerife on a last minute package deal from Thomas Cook to escape from the chilly, wintery UK. I live in Vancouver, Canada but was in the UK for five weeks for personal reasons.
I didn't like the first room I was assigned; the sea view was blocked by a derelict concrete building and the room itself was quite unappealing. At this point I was quite upset but the staff at the front desk were wonderful and gave me a great room on the sixth floor overlooking the ocean and the stunning "Los Gigantos" cliffs at no additional charge.
The nearby town was nicely low key touristy and had the most amazing Karaoke bar called the Blarney Stone. I''ve never heard such great Karaoke, especially considering the Canaries are in the middle of nowhere.
The hotel itself was populated by fairly elderly European couples and young families with children As a 52 year old solo traveller this wasn't really a problem because the weather and location were so lovely. in Addition I made some great "holiday" friends at the Blarney Stone in the nearby town.

An excellent resort and facilities. Food and service very good. Room spacious and clean. All in all a top resort and we will no doubt return. A credit to Thomas Cook..
