Good holiday for families with small children
We stayed at the hotel all inclusive for 14 nights. Apartments are extremely basic and dated with a small kitchenette, table and chairs, if you're lucky a walk in shower in an oversized bathroom or alternatively a shower over a bath in a smaller bathroom, 2 oversized single beds which were extremely comfortable.
The apartments outside in the resort are well laid out into smaller sections with either a pool, spa or children's area in the middle.
There are 4 restaurants to eat at; 2 served identical foods (all inclusive) and there is a pizza parlour and a tapas restaurant in which there is an extra charge for. The food was very repetitive during the stay, the hotel laid on dally good breakfast which comprises of a full mixed grill, to cereals, fresh fruit with yogurt and also a traditional continental breakfast with rolls, cheese and a selection of meats. Lunch / dinner was the same foods over and over again which came out on some occasions cold or ever uncooked. Unfortunately tea and coffee was only served at breakfast time only and is switched off at lunch / dinner times. There is a small children's area which has minimal foods for the children to eat.
All of the staff from the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful even though they are extremely busy throughout the day; you will find that it's the same staff that you see at breakfast who will also be working in the bar late on the evening. The maid comes and cleans the room and to replace the towels 5 days out of 7.
If you do want anything to eat throughout the day there is a pool bar which is near the main pool which only serves burgers, sausages, bread rolls, salad etc. The main pool and the surrounding areas around the resort are extremely clean and their repair service is quick and efficient.
There are Thomas Cook representatives in and around the site putting on entertainment and activities for both the children and the adults. The adult entertainment isn't good throughout the day. On an evening there are 2 external domes in which there is entertainment laid on, there is a children's disco for the 1st hour and the from 9.00pm until midnight is is the adult entertainment, this comprises of a music quiz, bingo, either a show from the Thomas Cook staff, or an outside entertainer and then music for the last hour.
When being in the domes you have a long lengthy wait to get a drink, so you're better off doubling up as there is only normally only 1 member of staff on, there is also limited types of drinks served with no beer, only 1 lager, spirits and some cocktails.
Please be aware that if you are fully inclusive and that you are taking children to this resort there are some extra costing for clubs, face painting etc.
The beach is about 10 - 15mins walk from the resort, if you're willing to wait there is a free bus which will pick you up from the hotel to take you to the beach at 10.00am or 3.00pm and will pick you back up at either 1.30pm or 5.00pm. The coastline is beautiful with a small beach and lots of shops for buying lots of gifts, some of these are really expensive as they sell designer merchandise.
Thomas Cook can arrange for a number of excursions during your stay but if you go down to the beach and find the ticket offices they are a little bit cheaper. We went to see the volcanoes which incorporated the Aloe Vera factory which they only wanted to sell you their products and also a wine tasting vine yard, please don't expect a wine tasting as you only get a choice of a thimble of sweet or dry white wine.
If you're thinking of an holiday at Fuerteventura you will need to take the boat to the island, try and find the small train on the high street, this will give you a tour around part of the island.
Please take plenty of sun cream and after sun gel as you'll need it, the wind disguises the heat from the sun and you can burn before you realise it.

Fab holiday sad to be home
Just back from a week stay at the THB Tropical Island :( My hubby, I and 2 children age 2 & 1. We had a fantastic week. Complex is great, beautifully laid out with different little sections with Play areas and/or pools. Entertainment team were very good with the little ones day & night. Apartment had everything needed, clean & comfortable. Food was great plenty of variety with themed nights (mexican, chinese yum yum). Restaurant small which was surprising however I see they have a second restaurant which I assume opens in the busier season. Snacks at pool bar also pretty good. We walked to the beach daily (10mins) Playa Blanca is a beautiful little spot!

brilliant holiday for our 15 years anniversary
We had a brilliant time at thb tropical island all staff are very friendly and helpful and. The room was clean but on arrival my shower was not working but they sent someone out and it was working by the end of the night. The food was great even for me as I am a very fussy eater and there was not a day out of the week that I did not find something to eat. When I was there I was looking into the kids entertainment and it was great as I am going to take my kids there in the near future. Even though we went as a couple there where stuff that suited all age group

not good for all inclusive
well the rooms were ok,nice and clean and the complex was always kept clean and tidy.thats the good bits, the FOOD was terrible, always cold and some was raw please be carefull what you give the children as i had a 6 year old and 18 month old, they only had chips most of the time the same went for 4 others who was with my party, one who is 14 weeks pregnant and got sickness and diorrea.if you go to this complex i would say go self catering, the large pools were always empty even tho it was nice hot weather as they were VERY COLD.this was my first all inclusive holiday and im not impressed.we went as a party of 10 from 3/4/14 for one week the only good thing about this holiday was the weather i will not be going back to this complex.also the evening entertainment was not all that good and the drinks were TERRIBLE even the beer was bad,so all in all this was not a good value for money as we ate out ALOT.we also booked a day out at the zoo on our last day we waited an hour and half but bus didnt turn up as the thomas cook rep told us the wrong place to wait,we did get a refunded but it was upsetting for my grand daughter as we couldnt go being it was are last day and was unable to do any thing that day,as we were told to wait for rep to come out at 12.15 for our refund,as you can tell from this review it was not one of the best holidays iv had really dissapointed with this holiday.

We waited 2 hours at the airport for our transfer because there wasn't enough coaches and when we arrived LATE the room wasn't ready. NOT a good start. It got better though. The rooms were lovely and equipped with a kettle which is a bonus because I love a cup of tea. The towels and sheets were changed regularly and Johnny in the Tavern bar was a great barman ( we noticed when he was off because there was a big queue). Food was ok we got enough to do us. A lot of pork on the menu. Sunday was the best with gammon chicken and roast beef with yorkshire pud. . The place is massive and it would be very easy to get lost, but safe for families. We actually tried our key in the wrong room (glad no one was in). They give you a map when you arrive but I still would get lost. The Spa is a bit of a let down but the sauna was lovely. We had a few lovely meals out in Playa Blanca. Be warned the shops are expensive in Playa Blanca a lot of designers. We got a taxi to Puerto Del Carmen and they have Blanco, Mango etc so a lot better priced. The shoes are lovely but they only seem to fit people with small feet and don't have sizes 7 or 8. Bring warm clothes for the evening because it does get cold. We walked into Playa Blanca every day and go out the back gate, a taxi back (uphill) is about 3 Euro.
We were 4 adults and we had a great time, we met some lovely people and had great fun in the Tavern bar, we never went to the Dome. I normally drink Smirnoff and I found the local vodka fine. The wine is a bit dodgy though. The hotels anamacion team are good fun and get everyone involved. There are 2 main restaurants and we found restaurant 2 to have the most choice for evening meals and friendlier staff. This is the first time I have stayed in a 3 star hotel and you can notice the difference but we had a really good time. I didn't pay for the internet because in some bars wifi is free. I got a safe and didn't pay for the remote for the TV because you can change the channels with the buttons on the TV. We stayed beside our own we pool but if you want music and games you could go to the main pool. Turtles and fish in site and tennis and pool and a competition pool for serious swimmers, there was a gym (I passed it on the way to the spa) I didn't use it. All in all the company and the weather made this an enjoyable holiday. I don't think it would suit old people or people who can't walk far unless you are happy to stay in the complex.
