Service aimed at the Scandinavian market
The buffet was aimed at the Scandinavian element of guests and not for the British element. There were items on the buffet that obviously were of Scandinavian origin. The hotel charges 15 euros for wi-fi but it only works in reception and then so slow that it often timed itself out before completing the requested task. Also we were on the very bottom floor in room 3004 and several times during the week one or other of the lifts were not working which meant quite a trek up flights of stairs. The entertainment was directed at the Scandinavians with all commentary unable to be understood by any other nationality.

Great family holiday in Gran Canaria
We had a fab holiday at the Puerto Azul aparthotel. There were 4 of us in our party, myself my husband our 6year old son and my father-in-law. Upon arrival we were impressed with the reception area. The service at check was very good, there was no messing straight forward. We were given a map and directions to our accomodation. We found the lift (there were 2 but we were told that 1 didn't work) after waiting a while we realised the other one wasn't working so had to carry our cases down 4 flights of stairs. We then had to go to another lift which was thankfully working to go down another 4 flights. We were told after by guests that the lifts were unpredictable. I have to say though that we never encountered any other real problems with the lifts during our stay. The apartments were very spacious, nicely decorated with very good furnishings. The balcony was massive with 2 sun loungers and a table with 4 chairs. Even though we went all inclusive we still had a 1 bedroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchen area. We had maid service 5 times during our week stay. The pool area was fantastic although very slippery especially when wet. The meals were very good for a 3 star rated hotel and there was plenty of choice. The drinks choice was also excellent for all inclusive the only downside was the bar shut at 11pm :-(
The entertainment was ok, probably typical 3 star.
The location had fab views although may not be very good for people with walking difficulties. There is also a adults only area for sunbathing which was excellent (if u don't have children) . Overall I would recommend this hotel as we had a fantastic time and was definitely excellent value for money.

Great relaxing week in Puerto Rico
I had mixed views about this property having read some negative feedback on Trip Advisor. It was better than expected. The reception staff were really welcoming from the start and were always very helpful. The property is VAST and until you get your bearings finding your way around can be a bit of a problem as there are lifts on all different levels that do not go from top to bottom level due to it being built into the cliffs. The room we had was on the lowest level and furthest from the pool and reception but we had a good view. It was comfortable and clean. The food in the restaurant for all inclusive was quite good. We have had better but we have also had considerably worse. There was always plenty to choose from and although it was regularly topped up it wasn't always hot. The main problem that we had was, I assume, because we were furthest from the pool that we were never able to get a sunbed around the pool. Any that were free were tucked away in the farthest corners and because they were all so close together, there was nowhere to put them if you pulled them out. They even queued for the adult section so unless you were there at the crack of dawn you had no chance. The entertainment was ok but the beer was a let down. I drink shorts so I was ok but my husband drinks cider and they don't have it. He tried the beer but couldn't drink it so we found ourselves going out to the bars every night which added to the cost of out holiday. Although there seem to be some negatives I have to say we had a lovely week and the areas both in the main resort and up from the Puerto Azul were really nice. We would go again but maybe somewhere smaller next time.

Have stayed at the Hotel before, 6 years ago. Accommodation spoiled by another Hotel being built directly in front of the part we were in - no sea view at all. Accommodation was okay, basic but clean. The food was mainly centred around the non English holidaymakers with a lack of variation, although the restaurant area was very clean. The entertainment, orwhat there was of it, now takes place outside in the only entertainment area of the Hotel, this was a shame as previously the entertainment was very good but this year we felt the need to go outside of the Hotel for entertainment, even though we were all inclusive. The pool area was very nice, and the new extended adult only section is a great idea. Overall, we were very disappointed as we knew what the Hotel was like, but it was not an expensive holiday so you get what you pay for !! Unfortunately, would not return which is a shame as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit.

We stayed in the Puerto Azul in Nov/Dec 2009 for 7 nights. Would really recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys self catering holidays. There is a kettle, toaster, microwave, cooker and even a coffee perculator for use in the rooms. We were very pleased with this hotel and always travel to Gran Canaria at this time of the year. We were most impressed with the adult only sun bathing area which includes a choice of 8 outdoor jacuzzis. There are maid services every day, which you don't always expect with self catering. We do know the hotel is trying to up it's rating and also provides all inclusive packages. The Europa Centre is a short uphill walk away, which offers a small selection of bars and restaurants catering for the British appetite! The other choice is a 3 euro taxi ride to the Commercial Centre which hosts a good range of choice. We would definitley recommend El Toro for steaks and chicken dishes. Absolutely fabulous!! Booking for next year as soon as we can!!!

long awaited honeymoon
Cabin crew very polite. Coach transfer a nightmare took all afternoon and far too many stops. Got a taxi when returning to airport off our own back. Could not bear to think about a return journey by coach, we wanted to end our holiday on a good note. Rep on the coach was very apologetic but not the hassle free and relaxing start to our long awaited holiday i was expecting,
The hotel was very clean and tidy. In need of a refurb as it has not changed since we went 9 years ago. Hotel team very friendly particularly the pool side bar team. We were not able to find our rep on the times displayed in the foyer so never got to do the excursions we wanted to do which was the day to Tenerife and the sioux city experience. Dont think we would return again, been twice and what was a great holiday the first time has become to commercialised.
