We have been to Lago Taurito and Puerto Mogan areas before, but as no children this time we decided to stay at the Puerto Mogan Hotel, situated on the harbour side of the port. The hotel, location, food all were fabulous. If there was anything to moan about is the reserving of the sun loungers, but this happens everywhere, just go with it. Also Mogan isnt for people looking for late night raves. Great place.

Good holiday let down by apartment.
Good location. Puerto de Mogan is a very tranquil place however the apartment no 187 was let down by poor maintenance. We had a beautiful big terrace which unfortunately got NO sun no matter what time of day - what a waste. There was never enough hot water for one shower let alone two and after complaining twice was told it had been fixed. It was fixed only if two people could have had a shower in about five minutes flat! This was our second time at this hotel but we would not now go back. Beware young lady on reception very sullen and of no help at all.

We read mixed reviews and stayed in an apartment near the boatyard. It was just lovely. Nice stroll to hotel for great choice of food. Lovely resort, calm and peaceful

long awaited holiday
My friend and I have always wanted to stay in this hotel but what a disappointment. When we book a hotel we expect to stay in the hotel booked. We were given an apartment instead of a room in the hotel. This was as far as you could get from the hotel and was on the edge of a working boat yard. One day a boat was being lowered into the water and our apartment filled with deisel fumes. This happened to some more clients, some were in an apartment for two nights then back into the hotel.Just crazy.
The hotel restaurant was too small and meal times were a complete shambles.Everyone was virtually fighting to get a table. On top of that the buffet styled food was average and sometimes just poor. The waiters were zooming around that fast to clear tables it sent you dizzy. One diner shouted out "welcome to Butlins"Utter shambles. No way would I recommend this hotel to anyone,it's a pity because the location is perfect and it is not cheap

The port of Puerto Mogan is magnificent. The marina is a beautiful place to walk around. The hotel and its apartments are in an amazing location. If I had the choice I would prefer to self cater but the buffet style meals were good.

Resort/ Hotel Fantastic - Thomas Cook not quite so
First a warning- If you book the Hotel Puerto de Mogan with Thomas Cook you are likley to be in an Apartment not the hotel and are unlikely to discover this till you arrive. The Rep said the 2 parties making this comment were the first she'd heard - the hotel management said it was a constant source of complaint!
The only other negative for some people may be the length of journey from the airport- around 2 hours with many stops- and no rep on the bus by the end - she got off when she reached her home and after that the bus driver mumbled each time he stopeed meaning people were desperately trying to spot hotel names to know whether to get off - he actually drove straight passed the second last resort leaving 2 families with young kids on the bus when he reached the end of the journey sho should have got off about 30 or 40 mins earlier! The driver let us off and drove away without even indicating where the hotel was. We knew it was a 300m walk but at 3am in the morning we were just lucky that someone passed.
After this however everything was on the up. The apartment we had was fantastic. It was about as far as you could get from the hotel and was still only a really pleasant 2 - 5 minute walk. There was also a second pool at our end of the marina for our use- although we chose to use the hotel pool. Every apartment has a terrace or balcony of its own and every appartment block has a roof terrace- a big roof terrace. The apartment had air conditioning in all 3 living areas and was very clean. The hotel was fantastic. The pool area was clean and well maintained and we loved the steps into the ocean. There was never a problem getting a lounger but the lifeguard did on occasion, (there seemed no rhyme nor reason to when- for example when 5 beds had towels and the place was near empty but not when the pool was busier) remove towels- and bags etc form the beds.
The restaurant was a nice size and the food was of a good standard with plenty of choice. There was a night or 2 when there wasn't a lot some of our party would eat but that was personal taste and there was always soup and a wide variety of salads so they couldnot be faulted. In addition the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant- at all times. Similarly the hotel staff were fantastic and went outof their way to help. Our flight was midnight and we were provided towels and allowed to use the spa facilities to shower and change before leaving - just remember to keep shower gel out.
The resort itself was brilliant. No loud bars. No dancing open till 3am. No timeshare touts. No shopkeepers or restaurant staff out trying to drag you in to their establishment and most of all no noisey revellers when you are trying to sleep. Not for those looking for a "Benidorm" or "Magaluf" type experience but perfect if you want to chill.

Our Late summer holiday
The resort of Puerto de Mogan is quiet and has a lovely harbour around which are dotted different restaurants. There is a small beach a few yards from our hotel which is also great. Our hotel is only on two floors and all rooms overlook the sea or the harbour. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the lovely pool overlooking the sea also has steps into the sea, which is a super bonus. The health and safety lifeguard by the pool, is always on duty and we were impressed by the way he ran the pool(making sure no one could reserve a sun bed at 7am in the morning, then leave it for 4 hours!). We were always able to get a sunbed, and therefore everyone seemed to enjoy swimming in the pool, as well as in the sea. Our room was superb overlooking the harbour on the first floor, and it was lovely sitting on the balcony watching the boats come in and out of the harbour. The hotel is great for older people and couples but not for children, as there are no facilities for children, only a small pool, but as we are a couple, it is ideal for us. There are many restaurants and bars in the resort, where you can get a drink in the evenings, but in the hotel there is only a small restaurant bar, and this shuts when the restaurant shuts, so would not suit anyone looking for any late night drinks.
Breakfast was great, a buffet and a lot of choice, all good. Dinner was a buffet but not so good, and many people decided to eat out every night because of the very poor quality and choice of food.
As this was most people's opinion, including ours, it is a great pity that the dinner menu lets this lovely hotel down.
This is our third stay at this hotel and will be coming again, as it is exactly right for us as a couple.
