Excelent, chilled holiday in Meloneras.
My husband and I enjoyed a much needed, relaxing holiday at the H10 Costa Meloneras Hotel from 28/07/2012 to 06/08/12. Although the hotel is on the edge of the resort, we felt it was in the best location. From our balcony ( which was very private and not overlooked at all) the infinity pool was directly ahead, with Meloneras beach beyond and the golf course to the right.
We sat out each evening and watched the sun set over the golf course whilst enjoying a glass of wine before going to dinner. The hotel room and all the public areas were spotless. There was plenty of choice in the restaurant and we particularly enjoyed the omeletes at breakfast, the freshly squeezed orange juice and the show cooking.
I can't comment on the quality of the entertainment in the bar as we sat around the pool bar on the comfy rattan furniture each evening, listening to the chill out music and sipping cocktails.....fab.
During the day we lounged around the infinity pool, went for a nice walk along the promenade into the resort centre for a look around the shops then enjoyed a leisurely lunch. There are lots of nice restaurants along the promenade.
We initially contemplated booking the Lopesan as it looked amazing in the brochure. We are glad we didn't as we felt the Meloneras Palace was better located, had a better views and more room around the pool areas.
The only suggestions I could make for improvement are - the hotel should insist that the infinity pool is for adults only. At present, children are allowed as long as accompanied. On our last 2 days a large family arrived with numerous teenagers and babies. Dad/grandad felt compelled to 'play' with the kids in the pool #ball etc.#. Very loud and baby was screaming...other adults vacated the pool area. Just spoilt the relaxed atmosphere without need really as there is an amazing family pool and area around the other side of the hotel. Also, we booked all inclusive and wanted to use the wellness centre and gym but you are restricted to 3-6pm daily...this completely splits your day and we feel that there shouldn't be a time restriction - it's not as if it is busy. Tea/coffee facilities in the room would be good.
All things considered, we had a wonderful holiday. Staff were friendly and service was really good. We'd definitely love to return.

A very friendly, clean & spacious Hotel in a popular area of Gran Canaria but still exclusive.
Hotel staff, food, location & service were indeed 5*.
Having stayed in another Hotel in Gran Canaria many times, we returned to the H10 after a 5 year break & we were not disappointed.
All staff were very friendly and service was "with a smile" - food variety very good and Hotel facilities, including Pool area furniture were 5*.
We joined the H10 Club as we intend to revisit many times - the quality of H10 Hotels is to be enjoyed.

Lovely hotel with magnificent views from every angle.
I went during mid-december so weather was not great, however, the hotel is fabulous with magnificent views. A very relaxing holiday and I made full use of the spa facilities - which is an excellent addition to the hotel.
There was plenty of entertainment on for those who wanted to join in but the atmosphere was generally very relaxing.
You could walk along the front to Masapolomas so the hotel was ideally placed in a quiet location but with easy access to other areas if you wanted.
Small beach just over the road with a choice of restaurants if you did not fancy eating in the hotel.
Personally I would have liked to have had tea & coffee making facilities in my room - other than that no complaints.

Our second home
We have been visiting this hotel twice a year for more than 10 years and we love it.
Staff friendly and efficient. Hotel kept spotless by the cleaners. Gardens lovely. Good sun beds and a choice of pool areas. Great views from the pool area and room. Nice walks. Small rocky beach close by and a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Also a golf course with amazing views opposite the hotel. Daily entertainment programme. Can't wait to go back later in the year.

Wonderful, relaxing experience!
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel, stunning views, exceptionally clean, helpful staff, a wide variety of food and excellent facilities. However we do agree with other reviwers that the infinity pool should be enforced adults only!! There is more than enough space for children to swim/play in the other pools on site. We would highly recommend the experience, especially out of season if you want to feel more exclusive.

Perfect Easter Break
Before reviewing I would just say it is a top 4 star rated hotel (not 5 star) but that does not detract for us from what was a great break. The hotel looks better in the flesh than in the pictures. The sea views are brilliant and the location is far enough away from everything so it feels secluded yet is only a 3 euro taxi to the posh shops or 5 euro to the playa des ingles side (taxis are always just there when you need one - no waiting). The pool side jostling for cosy wicker sofa beds was not too bad and standard sun loungers were plentiful. The pools are not heated so it was a bit bracing getting in. It probably strikes the right balance between being relaxed and providing a decent quality of service. We would go back again and just hope for the pool to be a little warmer.

Expensive for what it was
The hotel is too big and involves lots of walking and many stairs; all the staff are very polite and attentive but not over-welcoming. The evening buffet was like a scrum at times and not very relaxing.
Gran Canaria itself has changed a lot over the years, not for the best unfortunately as the beach areas in the south are over-developed with the surrounding areas looking tatty and barren.
My main complaint is reserved for the hotel pools as although lovely to look at, too cold for most people to swim in. I would estimate that less than 5 % of the hotel guests actually swam in them as a result. Quite simply if you want good value for winter sun then head for Thailand or pay a little more and go to the Caribbean!
