Great family holiday (August) Oasis Duna - Family of 5, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 6 year old. We had a two bed apartment which was very clean. Maids came in most days and changed towels. Had problem with faulty toaster which was changed in approx half hour of us asking. Pool area great, plenty of room and no probs getting sun loungers. Free entry to Baku waterpark opposite hotel was nice bonus. Fairly decent waterpark not worth cost to pay to get in but fab for free. Not too impressed with town beach very small and lots of sea weed so we mainly sunbathed at the pool, I'm normally a beach lover so thought I wouldn't enjoy pool that much but loved it. La Olivia beach (sand dunes) was fab, white sand and great waves for the teenagers to try a surf board. Too far to walk though get the bus, cost us approx 8 euros for the family. Main town stretch a short 5 min walk to start of shops/restaurants area. We ate out every night and enjoyed the atmosphere. Out in town every night so only sampled hotel entertainment once which seemed fine, average hotel thing, not fantastic but certainly not bad either. Lovely holiday would recommend to families. great holiday we had a great holiday got back march 2014 room good a216 good position facing the pool excellent value for money staff lovely very clean great location would stay here again got tv 21euro well worth it . April 4, 2014
Lovely Hotel/Holiday would go back tomorrow :) Stayed at Oasis Duna 26th Feb - 5th March 2014 2 Adults and 2 children and had a wonderful time. We had only paid for a 1 bedroom apartment but were given a lovely 2 bedroom which was fab - it was decorated lovely and I am shocked at the other comments about the rooms? perhaps we got lucky ours was great, very roomy we could not fault our room at all and would highly recommend. My only gripe was the noisy people upstairs and I would suggest that the hotel remind people when checking in if they are allocated an upper room that people are underneath them, silly people stomping around with high heels or dragging tables and slamming up the stairs like elephants! That said and to be fair It was only during times when people were getting ready to go out etc, I am just a stippler for silence lol and it did not ruin our holiday at all. We were half board and the food was great for what we paid and saved us a packet. You do not have any drinks included with your evening meal so be sure to budget for drinks when you go in for tea. As a family of four we were spending 10 euro each day for the children to have a fanta and and maybe a beer for the husband and water or a wine for me. (I am not really mean just something you need to account for lol) There were drinks with breakfast, fruit juices, water and hot drinks with breakfast which was a bonus and I think the children ate their whole monies worth in the lovely pancakes. Hotel is in a great location with a choice of directions to walk in, left out of the hotel to the shopping centre where there are different daily markets, craft market, flea market etc or turn right to go down to the main strip with all the bars and restaurants which take you down to the harbour, we dubbed it Spanish St Ives, it reminded us just like cornwall it was beautiful. The bars and restaurants were reasonably priced and you could grab yourself a pint of beer in some bars for 1 euro. Hotel prices were reasonable for a hotel too and they had 2 happy hours a day with beer and sangria on buy one get one free. There are pay as you go computers, a supermarket, a play park for the children, a different pool to go in each day, was a lovely place with beautiful landscapes and very clean. There are a good few things to pay for when you first arrive, if required off the top off my head the prices were around: 26 euro for the safe with 10 euro being returned as a deposit. for 1 week 21 euro for the TV for one week - this was actually worth paying for as we were chilling out quite a lot and here were lots of channels including sky sports, sky movies and children's channels. 42 euro for a wifi dongle for the week if required although there is wifi in the plaza square free between 8am and 12 noon, its a very weak internet connection mind so it may take you half an hour or so to get your facebook notifications lol. Almost all of the bars have free wifi so make sure you ask for their password when getting a drink. The staff were very pleasant and we cant say we came across anyone who was in anyway rude or unpleasant during our whole stay - they are all a credit to the hotel. A big thank you to everyone from the reception staff, bar staff, restaurant staff and entertainment team. In short we did not really want to come home from such a lovely peaceful break away. during peak season you have access to the Baku waterpark opposite but that was not open for us which was a shame but we also paid winter prices so cant grumble at that. All in all a good holiday at the Oasis Duna, we would definitely recommend to our friends and we will most definitely try and return some time in the future. Thank you :) Stayed February 2014, travelled with family March 14, 2014
We have been going abroad since 1967 and this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in it was dirty and the food was cold and either under cooked Worst holiday ever encoutered would not recomend to anyone February 17, 2014
Won't be using Thomas Cook in a Hurry The hotel was ok. Despite the reviews the food was actually good. We don't know about the buffet as they wanted to charge us Euro 40 each on New Year's Eve. I am not a big eater and am a vegetarian. I cannot even begin to suffice that sort of money for a buffet. The rooms were cleaned most days, but not a very good job done on them. The pool area was good and clean. The location was very good, in walking distance of everything, so we saved on cabs. Once you get to the hotel the rooms are difficult to find and no one is helpful. You are charged if you want to watch the TV! The wifi fee was crazy at Euro 42.00 - we are not in a five star! excellent holiday great place to stay. my wife and I stayed in this hotel apartments,as did are son and his wife and 8 year old daughter.in the next apartment to ours. they stayed for a week we stayed for two weeks in b block.the maid service was excellent kept clean each day, towel change every third day sheets twice a week.the maid her self was always very helpful.the hotel is very handy to the main strip there is every thing you need there.good eating out as we did plenty of bars.one good bar was CHABLIES BAR ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. going down the strip.excellent English breakfast.music Tuesday night and Thursday night.steve is a excellent host.we enjoyed the two week holiday as did our son and his family.we go there twice a year and have stayed in three places they were all about on a par with each other.bristol pala, pala park, and here.all in all a excellent hotel, apartment to enjoy a good break from the English weather. great family holiday would recommend this holiday to all families. we had a lovely time, our room was close to the pool area which were kept clean and tidy every day. the resort was really nice and well kept. The water park was also brilliant but mind the floor as it burns your feet !! The beach was lovely and clean the sand dunes were amazing. We ate mostly in the local restaurants with amazing food. Would recommend eating at "Little Italy, Rock Cafe and the Steak House. We loved it so much we want to return next year. Only fault is that the rooms get so hot and stuffy even with a fan on. very good value for money after reading some reviews my wife and i did not know what to expect,we went self catering due to the reviews on the food.well we spoke with some others who all seemed to find the food fine.we did not eat there so we really dont know.as for the place its self.we found it fine, location was great just off the main strip.the pools are very big,top one was heated.plenty to keep the kiddies happy, the reps saw to that.the only complaint was towels and sheet change,i had to tell reception it was not done when it should of been i.e on the correct days.to be fair reception had it done more or less after i reported that they had not been changed.we stayed in a block, the place its self was always kept clean and the maids did there best.i dont really think some of the reviews were fair comment. lets be fair we all rent i holiday home for a week or two,i am honest in this remark no one complained in my hearing about any thing.we was there from the 20-02-13 until 06-03-13. i did as i said complain about towels, sheets it was put right almost at once.the dark haired lady the name began with m at reception put things right all you need to do is tell her.very nice and help full person.all in all we would return,we have stayed at bristol pala, also pala park,in the past so we do have a mark to judge this place on.give the place a try you will enjoy it.the kiddies will for sure they were never still.i hope this review will help others.
