Menorca was very pretty. The San Luis hotel was just about the only place with any activity going on in the area but we loved that. Hotel's all-inclusive food and dr
ink we thought was very good with generally enough selection to be able to find something that you like. The room was nice enough and cleanliness of good standard but a little small with the camp bed up so we found it a bit crowded. Not bad range of activities available during the day for adults or kids but the kids club was held about 10 minutes walk away in the afternoon. Our 6 year old daughter loved the evening 'mini disco' (same every night so we'd had enough after the second night but there you go!) but the entertainment on after that we were a little disappointed with. There were a few average acts, some below average acts (evenings with the entertainment team only - not too impressed with these) and one superb act on the Saturday night which we loved and really made our holiday. Lovely quiet place with small but nice beach about 15 mins walk away. All in all, we really enjoyed it as a quiet, relaxing family break.

The hotel was very accomodating, clean and warm.
The food was in my opinion 3 star quality for a 4 star hotel but otherwise ok.
The only anoying thing from my point
of view was the all inclusive bar service which should have a queuing sytem as people would often jump in front of others by shouting to the bar staff.

We have been holidaying in Menorca for the past 13 years, usually in self catering apartments/villas but in the last two years we have stayed at the San Luis Hotel a
nd cannot fault it.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are lovely and clean and the facilities are perfect.
The location in S'Algar is quiet but this is how we like it.
There is enough going on at the hotel if you want to take part but if not, there is a lovely pool to relax around and plenty of undercover seating for when it is too hot.
A lot of SAGA parties use this hotel but don't let this put you off as, in our experience, they are a lively bunch and really enjoy mixing in.
We stayed on an All Inclusive basis and the food was more than adequate with lots of choice and the drink plentiful.
Would certainly recommend this hotel and we will be going back next year.

having not been abroad for over 30 years, we were unsure what to expect. The hotel was very nice, very clean, staff were lovely friendly and mostly very helpful. We
were a bit disappointed with a couple of things at the hotel and felt it did not warrant the 4* rating. The food was nice but not what i would call 4*, the live entertainment was very good but having Bingo twice & Who wants to be a Millionaire a bit rubbish. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing, surely some solar power to make use of all that lovely sunshine could help with this problem. Having said all that i would go back it was so relaxing and a lovely spot

Well what can I say, yes the rooms were very good maid service excellent as were all the staff in the hotel very courteous and helpful. However first time done all i
nclusive since St Lucia in 1994 and maybe used to self catering and smaller hotels But sorry San Luis not great!. NO all inclusive til eleven in the morning on the dot and none after eleven at night, even bottles of water. Food although plentiful was very much the same thing and quality of meat and some fish was not good. Only snacks available during the day were crisps and the pasta bar by the pool was extremely limited choice unless you paid for it.No other food available Having said that breakfast was good
Also had problems finding a sun bed unless you wanted to sit under the trees or wait til later in the day. A couple of good evenings entertainment and the resort of S'Algar was very clean and quiet. Would we return to Menorca yes, if we could fly from Southampton again it was easy but cannot recommend the San Luis as 4* more 3*

Advertised as a 4* but is really a 3*. The Thomas Cook rep was a young lad whose pesentation was over in 10 mins flat with no advice on water drinkability, cost of t
axis or buses, hospitals or doctors, market days etc etc.....all he was interested in was selling trips. This was due to to his lack of training and supervision and was probably taught this way, but worst of all he didn't speak any Spanish!!!! This was so important when a holiday makers son was injured and had to go the the hospital for treatment and had no help from the rep and had to sort it all out herself!!!!Thomas Cook Holidays invented package holidays they should be at the top of their class.
The Hotel was clean but there were a number of points that were well below par or dangerous. Dangerous as in the doors to the balcony are easily opened by a toddler (no safety catch)just a simple lever, we was on the 6th floor. There are 2 swimming pools neither are suitable for families as they are too deep for toddlers/small chldren.
Tv in the rooms could only get 2 English speaking stations, BBC World News and CNBC (there is only so much repeated news you can watch). Seeing that 80 - 90% were British holidaymakers this was poor, especially as satalite is easily available.
Food was of a good quality generally but the choice was poor each day was very samy with no 'special theme nights'. Any cold drinks had to be served by slow bar staff that asked for your room number!??! It felt as though they were monitoring how much drink you were consuming. There are no snacks or cold drinks from 10.00am when breakfast finished until 11.00am when the poolbar and inside bar opened but no snacks are available, there are no afternoon snacks either except crisps. Restricted to 1 drink per person when in the restraunt for lunchtime/evening meals.
The Asia restraunt bookable 1 time on your holiday has a poor restricted menu, again only 1 drink per person allowed with your 'free' meal.
At nearly £1000 for the 2 of us for a week all inclusive it is NOT good value and Thomas Cook need to up their game. As you will probably gather we won't be Thomas Cooking it in the near future.
The resort of S'algar is very quiet with not much happening for families, it has no sandy beach.

I booked this late deal holiday as an extra surprise for my wife on our 30th wedding anniversary, the day before we left I E mailed the hotel to let them know and wh
en we arrived they had upgraded us to a Junoir Suite with sea view at no extra cost! Food & drink was good, staff very pleasant, especially the girl at the pool bar if you tried to speak a little Spanish. Extra special praise for the entertainment team, probably the best we have seen (and we have seen a lot). I would definitely recommend to anyone. Only negative points were All Inclusiive does not start until 11.00 (so get some water the night before) and service at the Asia restaurant was poor. We will go back again & take the grandsons.

This hotel and resort can only be described as 'spotless'. The area around the hotel was very quiet but very well kept. The hotel itself was also kept very clean. We
were a little surprised to see so many elderly customers until we noticed the reps notice board contained 2 areas designated to Saga Holidays. Saga also had its own designated welcome desk. Enough said!!
We found the pool area a little cramped for a 4 star hotel. There was a real mix of Spanish, German and British clientele staying at the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable with a terrace over looking the sea. We stayed on an all inclusive basis but were disappointed that this didn't operate until 11am. The food was no more than average but there was something for everyone. I would suggest they could operate a kids buffet to attract more families. Entertainment was ok but nothing to get excited about. Because the resort is quiet you are kind of tied to the hotel. The 'Asia' restaurant was very nice but again nothing to be excited about and certainly not the best a la carte i have experienced.
Around the pool area is a pizza/pasta restaurant which is open for lunch. As all inclusive guests we were very disappointed with the limited choice given.
To summarise, if you are looking for a quiet week away, this is probably the place for you. 2 weeks would be too much!

The resort is very quiet but the hotel has fantastic sports facilities to keep you and the kids busy. We took advantage of the many organised events such as guided w
alks (which involved exploring coves), snorkelling, archery and rifle shooting. These were all free as was the guided mountain bike trips. There are also first class tennis and football faciliites plus an artificial golf green, again all free to use. The only activity we paid for was kayaking as this was run by a separate company. Although the resort did not have a beach, there was a small but beautiful beach only 15 minutes away. We stayed for 7 days but would gladly have stayed for longer although 2 weeks may be too much (recommend hiring a car to explore the island if you stay for 2 weeks).

We booked this holiday about 5 weeks before departure and was happy with the price paid for 1 week all inclusive. I had read the reviews and went with the review tha
t said take a taxi from the airport its a lot quicker and worked out cheaper than booking the coach. This is a hotel mainly for Saga people hence the hotel was very quiet. The hotel is situated at the top of an incline over looking the rest of the resort which in my opinion was very much like "stepford wives town" All the tree's were shaped the same the grass cut to the same length no people about really wierd. Anyway the hotel was to a high standard and the food was really good and the staff were friendly. All in all had a good holiday would i go back to s'algar? the answer would be no mainly because the resort did not have anything to cater for my 6 year old son other than a small park across from the hotel and other than the swimming pool there was nothing else it was hard work trying to keep him amused and happy for the week. I love Menorca but found that the price of everything had escalated so was glad that we had gone all inclusive and to a good hotel. I would recommend this hotel and resort if all you want is peace and quite. Oh and do book the asia restaurant as soon as you get there other wise you may miss out. The pizza bar besides the pool offers good food at lunch time really enjoyable. Happy holidays

We stayed at the las palmeras apts on all inclusive. but also used the san luis facilities. We had a brilliant holiday. The hotel's entertainment was good especially
the profesional shows. The grounds and apartments are clean, well kept and pretty. Staff are nice too. The beach was a trek but worth the walk . Beware smokers the only place you can buy tabs is a machine in the pub in salgar, or a trip to Mahon or san luis. It is very quiet with only a few gift shops and bars. The food was fine we were never dissapointed. The meal at the asian restaurant was nice too, you get one free drink with meal then pay for anymore we got wine and that was only 850 e which wasn;t bad. The only thing is the mosquito's we were all bit except our 18 month old grandson. take your sprays.

We stayed at the las palmeras,( it wouldnt let me select that) on an all inclusive basis for 11 nights in June. The apartments were spotless. roomy and with all the
basics. Staff at the resort were fantastic and went that extra mile to ensure everything was perfect. Food and drink were excellent and there was plenty choice for all at meal times. We used the san luis hotel for entertainment and this was ideal with a toddler, he loved the mini disco and train. The asia restaurant is def worth a visit. S' Algar as a resort is very quiet but offered everything we needed and the cove/ beach nearby is beautiful. All in all a fantastic holiday in a relaxing enviroment, no complaints and well worth the money! x

We chose the San Luis in S'Algar for a relaxing, all inclusive fortnight - good choice.
Hard to fault the hotel lived up to expectation of a 4* Spanish resort hotel,
food good although sometimes repetative, but quality and replenishmentof buffet spot on.
Staff certainly the best crew have come across ( this is not a critisism of prevous hotels - just that the San Luis staff had the edge)..
The hotel is used by Saga early and late season, probably on a 50/50 basis but apart from some of their clients constant complaining about nothing - which should be billed as part of the entertainment- the majority very nice and gives the place a good ambiance.
Not a resort for the younger holidaymeker as the town does not have much in the way of entertainment, but for the more seasoned traveller what is laid on in house more than adequate.
Wouldn't recommend the T.Cook rep - seemed only concerned in getting a good rating.

Wasn't too sure as what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but I must say we were very pleasantly surprised to find such a nice hotel in a good location. I
loved all the different seating areas both in door and out, and the lovely view from our balcony at the back of the hotel. The food was excellent, both in quality, selection and presentation. Great choice of drinks, though the sangria could have been better. The entertainment was pretty good, especially the Celtic night, and the young people looking after the children worked very hard to entertain them. My only complaint was the fact that the toddlers were still on the floor when it was the turn of the grownups to be entertained. I know the parents were on holiday too, but they made no attempt to take them off the floor. It would have been nice to dance to the music in between the first and second part of the entertainment, as it felt like a very short evening for the grownups. Other than that, the children were well behaved and it was quiet and relaxing. We explored the area on foot, by taxi and bus and absolutely loved it. Hopefully we' ll return again.

The holiday was very enjoyable apart from the following points
The Hotel - One of the beds was very lumpy causing discomfort to my wifes back, which has not yet reco

The Thomas Cook (temp) rep gave incorrect information causing meals to be missed
The pick up for transfer to the airport was too early, missing breakfast, waiting around at the airport for desk to open with no Thomas Cook rep. note Thomson's rep was there!

The rooms in this hotel are very good and spacious. The hotel was a bit noisy as it was the school holidays but our room was very quiet. There were a lot of children
and teenagers so if you are older it would be better to go May/June or end of September/October. The food was good apart from the soup. I do like soup but I am afraid the chefs are needing to learn to make soup. All in all it was an enjoyable holiday as the weather was good and there are a lot of nice walks.

Hotel San Luis was very clean and tidy. Sporting facilities good but could do with being open in the evenings for longer periods.Hotel was comfortable but space arou
nd swimming pool very limited and not enough sunbeds for the number of guests. S'Algar is very quiet but we found this to be very relaxing. Lovely beach about 20 minute walk from the hotel. The biggest downside was the food at the hotel not varied enough and all inclusive not very extensive. Food was edible though but we were only there for 5 days and were becoming bored with it. We did enjoy Menorca though. It is a beautifully clean and picturesque country.

The hotel was very clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The maid service was excellent and rooms of a high standard. We shared a double room with our 1
3 year old who had a camp bed. The food was a good mix for us, breakfast cereals, cheese, meats, bacon, eggs etc... Lunch could be in three places from the pasta bar to the full three courses in the buffet or a toatie at the sports complex. Dinner was a mix of fish, meat and pasta - and lovely sweets. The entertainment in the evenings was very mixed as some were professionals and some were the entertainment staff - who were lovely but not professionals. One downside was that as all the entertainment was based there all the other guests from the other apartments arrived early so it was difficult to get a seat after dinner. Plenty to do if you wanted at the Sports Centre though children had to be over 14 for cyclying, shooting and archery. The maxi club had water polo, football, basketball etc.. so the kids were able to make friends. Really nice, clean pool but usual problem of towels on sunbeds before 7 !!

Lovely quiet and clean resort, weather was fabulous with a gentle breeze. Great hotel, with a terrific choice of food, we travelled with our fourteen year old daught
er and my mother and we all enjoyed a wonderful variety of food, well worth using the all inclusive option. There is the choice of using the main restaurant, or poolside pizzeria or fresh snacks / toasted sandwiches at the sports center, you can even eat once during your stay at the Asia restuarant, which was excellent. The hotel is very well run and the air conditioning in the room was the best we have experienced. The hotel was very clean and the staff all helpful and eager to please. Entertainment on three nights was provided by outside acts and the other nights the animation team worked hard to be entertaining, if you have younger children, they seemed to be well catered for and all enjoyed the mini disco nightly. The train/bus that operates every evening was great to see the resort and well worth using and it's free !!! The resort itself is small, with a very beautiful rocky coastline. There is a supermarket and two small shops selling the usual gifts at reasonable prices. We went to Mahon on one of the market days, this cost approx 12 euros each way in a taxi. This hotel and resort are ideal if you want a quiet relaxing break, we would definately go back again.

S'algar resort in Menorca is a place where i had very fond memories of whilst i was growing up. This is where my parents used to take me and my sister every year dur
ing our childhood and during that time we stayed in most of the accommodation in the s'algar resort.
I have always wanted to take my children (14,10) away on my own and always back to the S'algar resort as it is really quiet, very clean, easygoing resort. I can see why some wouldn't like the resort particularly as i wouldn't describe it as cultural and it is very 'man made' but for a quiet resort which offers very good accomodation in a very safe environment it is perfect. It is only a 10 minute drive away from the airport and only a 2 and a half hour flight away it is practically on your doorstep.
The hotel did not disappoint!...a fantastic hotel which has plenty to offer....not least of which fantastic food. The range of food available on the all inclusive buffet was fantastic and i struggled to think of anything else they could offer.
the cost of eating/drinking out in Menorca is not cheap so the all inclusive option was a must especially with the children.
The animation team were fantastic and the range of activities for both the children and the adults was exceptional...from archery to pool to water polo to darts and even spanish lessons.....all of the activities were included. although there were lots of activities it never felt like you had to participate.....and so could just lie back and relax by the pool with a good book!
The evening entertainment was also of a good standard...and some of the soundalike acts were of a really high standard.
The hotel is quite large but still manages to keep a 'family run' feel....the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Overall i had a fantastic time..one of the best holidays i have ever had and it will be one i remember for a very long time.
My children are already asking if i've managed to save enough money to book again next year.....

Providing you are the right age group this is a very nice hotel to stay at for the price, it is a SAGA Hotel. It is well run and kept very clean. Food is very nice w
ith a good but fairly basic selection.
Rooms are simply furnished average size, sea view side is much better and worth the extra. Basic rooms view the car park.
Food is fairly good. There are a few simple meals such as chips and plain chicken on most nights but mainly it is typical spanish fare and salads.
Bars are well staffed, Drinks not a problem as clientèle were older and not heavy drinkers.Three nights per week entertainment acts are booked in again 70's-80's Music. The animation team does the rest of the week these are mime shows which were not to bad. Kids at 7pm Adults 9.30pm to 11.00pm. Good but about the same standard as your local pub. Bars, entertainment and music shut down at exactly 11.00pm at which time most people go to bed. Everyone up at 8.00am booking sunbeds. There is only one late bar in the resort a ten minute walk away. There are also a variety of sports to try in the adjoining sports complex. In truth a resort for a quite 7 day holiday the best length.14 days would be pushing it. Early nights and low key evenings is the norm. If thats your bag this is a great place for the money.

Usual evening entertainment but the mossies were everywhere biting everybody even indoors ,my wife had to go to the Pharmacy for her bites

Me and a friend booked our all inclusive holiday in January for middle of May. We said we wanted a quiet holiday with things to do if we wanted. We got the shock of
our lives when we walked into the hotel to find that the majority of the other guests were with SAGA!!!! Apparently after the end of May the SAGA people leave an younger people move in.The room was basic but ok if you didnt want to spend alot of time in them. The weather was iffy to start with and when it was sunny if a cloud floated over the sun it went bitterly so take some warmer clothes with you just in case. The food was very oily and covered in garlic and there wasnt a massive variety. The staff were friendly and helpful and always said hello. Entertainment was ok. Had a great tribute act to the Jacksons that got everyone on the dance floor. The entertainment team did say that begining of may the entertainment program does change and bingo was not on the agenda!!! The all inclusive perks werent great as you couldnt get drinks before 11am or after 11pm (not great for youngesters) and meal times were set so you couldnt get food after 9pm until 8am the next day so we ended up buying some food in the local shop. The pizza and pasta restaurant was only open 12.30 til 3 but we ate there a few times and you could get toasties from the sports bar.The sport centre activities were ok if you wanted something to do. Entertainment on the whole kept us amused even if it was to laugh at some of the costumes they wore.

This is the second time at this hotel and found the same peaceful relaxing atmosphere, we wanted to go back just for that reason, no loud discos, no rowdy bars, not
even a police siren to be heard. The food is good, varied and lots of it, the pool is clean and the surrounding area is comfortable. All staff are very helpful, friendly and willing to help.
The surrounding resort is small and very well kept, no litter lying around and it is lovely to walk round in the evening, 5 mins and you are at the small well kept marina where the scenery is most spectacular.
If you want to relax...this is the place to go, only 1 local bar and a couple of shops.
This is heaven, lie back and relax, that's what it is all about.
If you want night life and shops, Mahon is just 40 mins away in the bus, 1.6 eur. Well worth the visit.
We will be back again soon, no doubt about that.
Thanks very much

The return journey from the hotel to the airport seemed to take forever calling at lots of hotels en route. The flight back was also a disappointment I have special diet and had booked a meal, but planes had been swapped and I had nothing to eat (although I was offered some fruit), We left the Hotel at 7.30am and I did not get any thing else to eat until I got home at 3.30pm. I went through the complaints procedure which is supposed to take 28 daysI but ended up more like 3 months then only got refunded the meal cost, not very good customer services.
