Not as advertised and not 4 star
Just arrived home after 7 night stay. Having been to 4 star all inclusive hotels for the last few years, this was the worst one we have visited. The food was minimal and not always that nice and not much choice, some of the bar staff were rude, there was a no lilo rule for the pool which is an unwritten rule and you don't find out until you've been and bought your lilos and you get told to remove them from the pool, there was a lack of communication between the sports area which is at another hotel and Las Palmeras so you didn't know when any of the activities were taking place, during our 7 night stay we had our room cleaned just once. How Thomas Cook have this rated at 4 star is beyond me. Disappointing.

Good holiday in Las Palmeras Apartments
We have just returned from a weeks holiday and stayed all inclusive. The complex was excellent, kept very clean and nice and quiet. The staff were brilliant. A downside to the holiday was between the restaurant closing at 2-30pm and reopening at 7pm you could only get crisps and ice-creams to eat. I thought 7pm opening was rather late for evening meal.

Lovely relaxing holiday with toddler and baby
These apartments are ideal for those with young families - it was very family friendly and the staff were obviously very used to children being around. The children's pool is brilliant and the bigger pool is also good for them too. Plenty of sunbeds available. Children's play area is clean and well maintained. Buffet restaurant is ideal for eating in a hurry - good choice of food though sometimes difficult to find bits to put together to make a meal! Very quiet so ideal for those wanted to relax. San Luis hotel is only 10 minutes away and is much busier with more going on for those that want it.

Was my first holiday. Was absolutely brilliant. Lovely views, staff were brilliant and beaches not far away. Lovely countryside walks too. Only downside was self catered no oven. But could survive on going out for food and cooking food on the hob.
Supermarket near by. Would definitely be returning. Very quiet not like Majorca!
NOTE this is the review for LAS PALMERAS not Hotel s'algar, the website would not let me choose las palmeras.

peace and quiet at las palmeras
we wanted peace and quiet and we got it,but the over all package was just not worth the money, every thing is just about average at this place, will book a hotel closer to the beach next time, generally menorca quite nice but you need a car or boat really to see all those lovley coves, the best thing about this place was the restaurant/diner,the food was good but lacked any lamb, this was annoying when in the other private restaurant you could buy a meal with lamb in it! the waiter service was good .the flight and the transferes were ok but on our arrival there seemed to be a mix up as to our destination ,basically the driver was not going to take us to our hotel when the rep had told us to get on that particular coach .asked the barman if they done cocktails and he said no,such a shame when you pay for all inclusive would have been nice to have the choice but then i suppose it keeps the revellers down abit.i would go to this place again for the peace and quiet.

Las Palmeras S'Algar Menorca
The accommodation was fine. Spacious enough rooms, clean and comfortable.
The pool area was nice, not too busy and with planty of space so you didn't have to feel people were sitting on top of you. The lounge area is fine too.
The bus to Mahon leaves from outside the apartments, takes 20 minutes and is very cheap. easy to get in and out that way. I would recommend hiring a car if you want to go further afield but that is true for anywhere in Menorca.
There was one major problem and that was the food. If you are a vegetarian do NOT go to this hotel. We were All Inclusive and on 3 out of 7 nights there was no veggie main course on the menu. i was told "but there are vegetables", what makes it even worse was that in the complex there is an Italian restaurant with veggie food and they wouldn't let me have it!!
Lunch was very much hit and miss, dinner more of a miss, thankd god for fruit and dessert.
if you come here go self-catering or B & B unless you eat anything.

Relaxed get away
Went away with a friend for a relaxed holiday and the S'Algar Resort was just what we were looking for. We went in the end of September so were a lot of elderly couples which suited us perfectly as we were not there for an action packed holiday. There were no children at this time of year which meant the pool area was always nice and quiet and the buffet restaurant was never too busy.
We went all inclusive and i'd advise everyone to do this. You could get any drink off the menu (excluding cocktails) between 11am-11pm and unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. It really was superb. We really enjoyed the buffet as every day it had lovely selection of starters, main course and deserts but we did hear a lot of people moan about the repetitiveness of it. There was an amazing Italian restaurant by the pool side that we went to most days for lunch as it was delicious and this was included in the all inclusive. The Asia restaurant was lovely for a change too. We really couldn't say a bad word about the holiday but if you're looking for things to do during the day you'd prob need to rent a car as there isn't much within walking distance from the resort.
All in all a brilliant hotel and the best holiday we've had.
