Hostile environment, woeful staff, dated build and appearance
Positives include excellent food selection and range, an understated swimming pool area, location is prime - next to beach and strip. However, staff were rude, unpleasant, unfriendly, cold and forceful. A particular example of this was when we were in our room getting ready to go out when they switched off our electricity without warning in order to get us to leave. We were allowed to make little to no noise at the risk of being evicted without warning or true reasoning and on another occasion I returned to my room to change my clothes and they wouldn't let me in my own room, for what reason I'm still none the wiser. The constant patrolling of security guards and staff monitoring you gives this a hostile, unpleasant and almost threatening environment, would never ever recommend staying at this hotel and nearly ruined my holiday. Absolutely shocking place to stay.

Just what I was looking for!
I wanted to run away from work and people, warm Up my body and see new places. I found what I wanted. Was maybe too cloudy those days, but still warm. Fly - fantastic, very funny pilot with fantastic sense of humor ("person who attempt to smoke during fly will be immediately requested to leave the board"), well organized pick up and transport to hotel. Stressless.
Hotel clean and quiet. I went in May to avoid company youth and families with small children. My only company was bunch of retired German which was absolutely fine. Evening and nights were silent apart from one time when one "overexcited" grandma confused floors ;))
Town small, cozy, wherever you go, sooner or later you will get to your hotel. Lots of to do. From my Hotel Florida where ever you go, you also find beach. Lots of narrow street with lots of little shops, pubs, restaurant and naughty lap dance;P (especially for British boys 20-28) who, to be honest behave in civilized way NOT! Oh well, at least once they may feel like kings of life.
Personally I think that Representative wasn't handy at all (but I'm young and resourceful). Organizing your time alone is cheaper and quiet easy - thanks to little agencies offering half and full day tour and attractions.
Food - for me very wide choice of food, good food. I can't believe that people say in reviews "my children had to eat pizza", maybe they r not use to eat fruits and vegetables than. You can't expect going to another country with different culture and expect fish and chips, sausage rolls and other fish-pies. Chicken, pork, beef, pastas, fried eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled potatoes, fried potatoes, potato crockets, lettuce, cucumbers, tomato, different dressing, lots of fish, paella, seafood, strawberries, bananas, apples, pineapples, pears, lots of cakes, ice cream, juices, salads, and it was just breakfast and dinner (half board), so huge choice.
Water in swimming pool supposed to be warmed up, I don't think it was. Think it was colder that sea water, but still nice. Advantage of above was that the only person swimming was me. And one huge seagull;)

Very enjoyable holiday in Cala Bona
We have stayed at the Atolon hotel 2 years ago & enjoyed it so much we decided to return again. It's in a lovely position on the promenade that runs from Cala Bona to Cala Millor. The swimming pool, reception, dining room & a small number of bedrooms are in the block that faces to the sea then across the pedestrianised promenade is the annexe where most of the bedrooms are.
The swimming pool & outside bar that faces out to sea is where the evening entertainment is, which has spectacular views. Pedro & Jonathan who work there are very nice people & can't do enough for you. Pedro remembered us from 2 years ago. There is evening entertainment approx 3-4 times a week with singers, magicians etc.
The bedrooms are of the usually size, we are a family of four so it was quite cramped but we knew what to expect. The hotel has not been refurbished for afew years so the rooms are not the most up to date but are cleaned daily & are of an acceptable standard.
The dining rooms is light & airy with a good buffet selection to choose from. Some people moan about the food but this is just a small 3 star hotel & I think they cater for most tastes even though the choice is not extensive.
You can hire fridges & safety deposit boxes from reception which were reasonably priced. The pool area is clean & tidy with plenty of sunbeds. The bar serves snacks/meals on a lunchtime if you get a bit peckish.
The beach at Cala Bona which is only 100 metres away is ok but full of seaweed, we preferred to walk the 500 metres to Cala Millor beach which is a lot nicer & cleaner.
Nightlife in Cala Bona & Cala Millor is very laid back. No lager louts just families & couples. There is a small amusement park in Cala Bona for the kids with trampolines, bouncy castle & go karts that our children enjoyed. There is also mini golf at a bar called Jemica behind the Rope & Anchor pub at the harbour in Cala Bona which was good fun too.
We had a really good holiday in Cala Bona & in our opinion there is something there for every taste. We will definitely be returning in the future.
