Puerto Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa

A bright, family-friendly resort in northern Majorca, set against a sheltered horseshoe bay, Puerto Pollensa holidays are the first choice for a relaxing Majorca break.

Overview

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Tramuntana mountain range, the sheltered horseshoe shaped bay of Puerto Pollensa is one of the prettiest resorts in the north of Majorca. Originally a fishing village, the port of Puerto Pollensa has developed over the past 40 years into a bright new tourist development with harbourside restaurants and an excellent range of family-friendly accommodation complexes. From the tree-lined promenade with elegant cafes and fine restaurants to the vibrant market square featuring lively pubs to traditional tapas bars, Puerto Pollensa has plenty to offer.

If this all seems a bit too commercial and busy for you, take a walk inland to the town's heart, with many of the narrow streets dating back to the 18th century. So complete is this holiday resort, it even offers easy access to the island's best outdoor experience: the mighty Tramuntana mountain range, towering behind the town. The best way to appreciate Puerto Pollensa's unique atmosphere is to take a stroll along the celebrated pine walk. Lined with 19th century houses, trendy bars and pavement cafés, the pine walk is an ideal place to sit and watch the world go past and is must for all visitors.

Out in the bay, the variety of images continues, as luxury yachts mingle with colourful fishing boats, creating a pleasing backdrop to your days on the beach. For those who want a more energetic walk, head towards Cala Boquer where there are some magnificent views to be had. The walk can take about an hour but you are treated to spectacular unspoilt scenery. Don't forget to look out for the wild goats on your travels.

For many though, package holidays to Puerto Pollensa never stray far from the resort's cool beach, with its high-class fish restaurants (and, well, a Burger King) lining the promenade. Something for every taste, then! Families can take advantage of cheap holidays in Puerto Pollensa, even in high season, when the resort is at its busiest, and its nightlife at its most enticing.

Things get a little quieter from October but last minute holidays to Puerto Pollensa are possible year-round, and for many, this delightful town is at its most appealing when the streets are quiet, and the mountain's peaks are set against a bright blue winter sky.

Why Go?

Puerto Pollensa holidays are a delight - we can hardly think of a more beautifully situated resort, nestled as it is between a series of lovely sheltered bays on one side, and the jagged peaks of the Tramuntana Mountains rising up behind a series of comfortable, well-designed hotel and villa complexes. Puerto Pollensa resort's a big hit for families keen on sampling a holiday to Majorca, couples and groups of friends seeking a relaxed time amid spectacular scenery, along Majorca's dramatic northern coast. The resort still evokes something of the traditional fishing village about it, despite a fair amount of development over the past 40 years: now it's a bright new tourist development, and the perfect family holidays resort, but its harbourside restaurants and tree-lined promenade are a short drive away from the (inland) old town's heart, with many of the narrow streets dating back to the 18th century.

The best way to appreciate Puerto Pollensa holidays' unique atmosphere is to take a stroll along the celebrated pine walk. Lined with 19th century houses, trendy bars and pavement cafés, the pine walk is an ideal place to sit and watch the world go past and is a must for all visitors.
