Great holiday we have just returned from our stay at the so aqua apartment was clean and comfortable beds a little on the hard side, maids cleaned the rooms and put fresh towels out every day, pool area was lovely there was no problem getting a sun bed, the indoor pool and Jacuzzi were great. great location just along the road from the supermarket which is very large. got the road train from just along the road from the supermarket., I recommend the old town which was by the beach really good for food ad shopping, they have even built escalators into the rock so easy access to the beach. We would just like to thank the Thomas Cook staff in Kendal for all there help in finding the perfect holiday for us. May 30, 2014
Good location On arrival at our hotel til we left I cannot fault this place. The staff were polite, helpful, courteous and always willing to assist. The hotel itself was spotless, I cannot fault the cleanliness at all. As soon as you step inside the hotel smells clean! Indoor pool was a bonus as we went for early morning swim each day. Easy to find a sun lounger each day and terrace bar very nice as happy hour lasted couple of hours! Kitchenette area very well equipped with coffee machine, hob, microwave. I would stay at Solaqua again. May 4, 2014
great palce to visit our holiday to portugal in august 2012 staying at the solaqua. hotel was fantastic and very clean and the staff were very friendly. the resort was close to the old town and it was such a wonderful holiday for us both. October 11, 2012
Don't do it! Location is good, very central. Hotel is definitley not a 4 star. The hotel and rooms are generally clean, however the pool area is filthy, sun beds need a good scrub and your feet and towels need a good scrub after spending the day at the pool. Don't go all inclusive as you are treated like a second class citizen and paying guest get priority at the bar especially by the older barman who is very miserable and doesn't like putting ice in your drink!! The food wasn't to bad but not much choice and much the same on offer each day. Be prepared to wait in a que to get into the dinning room. I must say the dining room staff were really nice though and very pleasant. Overall I would only rate this hotel as a 2 star, it was a bit like a poor travel lodge. They have a cheek to have 4 stars over the door! I would not recommend this hotel, if you have booked pay a few extra quid to change it as there are lots of lovely hotels in the same vacinity for much the same price. Definitely not recommended. Great place but could do with minor improvements We were pleasantly suprised with this place due to the mixed reviews, we stayed self catering for a week in a studio apartment which was perfect for just the 2 of us it was clean and modern with all the facilities we needed. The maid was on the little lazy side she would just come in to empty our bins, swill the bath and sink out, didn't often sweap or mop the floors (which I can tell thanks to my ever dropping hairs!) towels were only changed when we dumped them in the bath and bedding was never changed whilst we were there but I wouldn't do either of them every day at home so no worries there. I had hoped for a pool view though never asked for one and as usual with us we got the opposite though to be honest it wasn't a problem as you just overlooked the street and another hotel so it was very quiet rather that listening to the same CD they blasted out every day very loudly in the pool bar. Pool was lovely though a bit on the cold side (not the hotels fault!!) but a blessing when baking away in the heat, the pool area wasn't so clean we gathered the guy just hoses all the muck and cigarette butts towards the drains and just leaves it there in a pile rather than picking it up. So just a couple of improvements that should be made considering a 4*. Never really used the pool bar much though we did have toasties one day which were very nice and reasonably priced, not sure about a night though as the set up seemed a little strange so went out every night. The hotel is in a perfect location very cheap supermarket round the corner, Old Town 10 mins down hill, The Strip 15 mins the other way. November 9, 2011
Holiday at Sol Aqua, Albufeira Overall an enjoyable holiday. Sol Aqua centrally situated but would not be good for anyone unable to walk about easily (unless hiring a car). Brisk 20 minute walk to the Strip and to Albufeira Square (coming back is a steep incline) - however it was worth the walk and was not a problem for us. Apartment good and maid service excellent. However one major drawback for us was there were very few sunshades (umbrellas) around the pool area and the temperatures were in the low to high 30's Centrigade. Unless you were down by the pool before 8.30 a.m. you would not get a sunshade. Bar service at Sol Aqua was very slow and staff attitude was not good- a distinct lack of cutomer care. Flights both ways were excellent. We attended the welcome parrty and found the rep to be very helpful and informative (we did not choose to go on any trips). July 9, 2011
Best Holiday Have recently spent a week at the Sol Aqua in Albufeira and would say it was probably the best holiday I have had. The apartments are lovely, clean and spacious. The pool a decent size. The snack bar very cheap. We were self catering and at the end of the road was a hypermarket with lots of local produce at local prices. We didn't use the main restaurant at the Sol Aqua as we like to go out every night but it did look expensive. Never had a problem getting a sunbed, but did sometimes getting a brolley so we ended up taking our own one to the pool. The apartments are set on a back street so very quiet and 15 mins ( I timed it) to the beach and 20 mins to the main square in Albufeira. The town centre is very busy and a lot of touts try to get you into their restaurant, which can be a pain, but eating out is reasonably priced and lots to choose from. We did venture the other direction to The Strip, but it's too much like Blackpool for me! Holiday only spoilt by 7 hour delay coming home as Faro airport is not the most comfortable, and information was thin on the ground. July 2, 2011
Holiday in Portugal Lovely resort, New Town is for youngsters - loads of Hen and Stag Nights. The Old Town is more for families and older couples. They were both within walking distance about 15 minutes from the Sol Aqua. Accommodation was great the only downside was the pool area was not cleaned enough and lack of umbrellas. Overall a great holiday and would go back again. June 13, 2011
