Get a feel for the resort

Most visitors come to Norway with the fjords top of the sightseeing list, for nowhere else is there anything quite like these deep, water-filled slices between precipitous mountains. Next on most travellers' lists is the midnight sun. Norway has more hours of daylight each year than any other country in the world, and thousands of tourists trek to the North Cape to see the red glow of the sun at midnight. Unfortunately, many trek back in disappointment, for more often than not fog and clouds obscure the sun at the North Cape. Nonetheless, those on a summer holiday to Norway in towns above the Arctic Circle experience 24 hours of daylight, and the disorientation caused by having to go to bed during 'the day'! Gateway to the Fjords
The two main cities of Norway are Oslo and Bergen. As the home of Norway's parliament and National Theatre, and with dozens of first-rate museums and galleries, Oslo makes up in charm what it lacks in visual splendour. As if floating amid the fjords at Norway's western edge, Bergen is tucked at the bottom of seven mountains. It's a cosy city despite frequent rain and is the gateway to the fjords - both are surely perfect for a short city break.
