Superb Honeymoon destination!
From start to finish this was an amazing holiday. The flights were great (this was my first long haul flight) the in flight food and entertainment was fine, and even more surprisingly the legroom was good. I am 6'7" and I was not crunched up, a real bonus!
The hotel was amazing, everyone there was so warm and friendly and they couldn't do enough for you. There are countless pools, bars and restaurants on site and every single restaurant does great food, in fact from a taste point of view they weren't far off being of a similar standard to the Michelin starred restaurant that we went to in London just a day before we flew out!
The room was wonderful, we stayed in their Junior Suite (this is their standard room) and it was just like it looks in the brochure, only it seems even better in real life. the only very small critisism I would have is that the rooms could smell slightly damp. this cam from where the brilliant air conditioning was meeting the 35 degree temperature on the patio door and producing a lot of condensation. However, the hotel is obviously aware of this as they provide incense sticks that can be burnt in the room and once these are on everything smells great.
The daytime entertainment laid on by the hotel is great. From quizzes to poker to archery to pushbike safaris, there are about 10 different things you can do every day for free, and If you don't like that there is free use of the sea kayaks, windsurfers, hobbiecats (small Catamaran boats), beach boules or beach vollleyball. The pools are fantastic, ranging from the more lively pool at the front of the hotel with music and a pool bar, to the tranquil lazy river situated around the Spa and in the middle of all the apartments.
The evening entertainment is surprisingly good, especially look out for the Michael Jackson tribute and the magician (who is really funny, and not bad at magic either!).
The choice of excursions and off-site activities (all at an extra cost) is excellent. We went snorkelling around the Isla Mujeres for a couple of hours (which was fun) and we also decided to go swimming with whale sharks out in the Carribean (about 15 miles off the coast of Cancun).....If you only do one trip on your stay make it this one, I doubt you will ever do anything as amazing as this!
Overall this was an outstanding holiday and we would recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday away from the children, but especially to people on special anniverrsaries or honeymoons.

Thomas cook seemed to offer the best deal flying from Manchester
The resort is a good way out but so nice you do not need to go anywhere
Plenty of restaurants and bars food is okay all drinks were premium brands
We upgraded to premium flight could be better seats. We had an old aircraft outward onboard entertainment could be much better no map no camera and only 2 films. After a 10 hour delay coming back we had a much newer jet on return. This aircraft was normally used on Gatwick/Barbados run. we always feel this is the north south divide!

Fab holiday in cancun
This hotel was second to none cannot complain about anything. The staff were absolutely marvellous could not do enough for you. The rooms were fab as was the cleanliness of the place. The food in all of the nine restaurants was excellent did not have one bad meal
Nothing more to add
Only that we had a 10 hr delay going home but it was fortunate that the hotel let us keep our rooms until departure
I don't think that Thomas cook kept us up to date with what was happening. Had to find out for ourselves.

Stunning hotel, beautiful rooms with giant sofas on the balcony, four poster bed, jacuzzi, walk in closet etc.
Immaculate grounds and communal areas. Food was very good indeed and the staff cannot do enough for you and offer a very high level of service.
Perfectly situated opposite the Isla Mujeres and just north of the hustle and bustle of Cancun. Highly recommended.

Honeymoon 25 May - 5 June 2013 Excellence Playa Mujeres
We stayed in the Junior Suite with pool view for 10 Nights to celebrate our Honeymoon and I have to say my wife and I had a wonderful time. The positivies outweighted the negatives greatly, therefore I will go through the negatives of our stay first:
Weather was terrible however in no way does this reflect on resort or its staff.
Room service would often arrive later than the 45 minutes that is specified and the food, specifically french fries would be cold/soggy.
Location of Hotel is maybe 40 minutes outside of Cancun centre therefore a taxi or bus is required to get into town.
The shopping within the resort isn't great and many items are extremely expensive i.e. sunblock which cost more than double the price than it would in the UK.
Now for the positives:
Welcome on arrival was superb, refreshing face towel to cool down at bottom of steps, glass of champagne at reception and a speedy check-in.
We were given a quick guide of the bars/pools etc by Alberto who brought our luggage to our suite. A bottle of champagne and two swans with a rose were awaiting us on opening our door along with a honeymoon banner on the door. The room was immaculate and we were delighted with every aspect of our accomodation, we only wish we could have had a free upgrade or the money to stay in one of the excellence suites :)
Although location was a negative it was also a positive as the seclusion really makes the romantic getaway. The private beach was also fantastic.
The food was very good, we mainly used Toscana for our breakfast and lunch as it offers a better variety and more often than not the staff were very attentive to our needs. During the day Pizza's can be had at the bar by the beach during and they are excellent snacks. You can order some great food at the Revive Bar as well such as the Bacon & Cheese Burger which was excellent, there are always lovely snacks/finger buffet in the lobby where the Martini Bar and refreshing icecreams can be had at the machine beside Cafe Kafe. Virtually every single evening meal was superb BUT portion size is not great as they are a la carte so you might want to order 2x mains per person on occasion, one of the highlights which is not to take away from any of the evening meals was the Spanish Coffee after dinner in the Barcelona Restaurant made by Gustavo, trust me if you have not tried it make sure you do! Overall great choice of restaurants and bars to keep everyone happy. BEST RESTAURANT: CHEZ ISABELLA.
Entertainment: Some great activities every hour of the day can be had (indoor and outdoor)and there is always live music and a theatre show in the evenings to appease the harshest of critics, although they do tend to repeat and you may see the same entertainment more than once if you are there for 10-14 nights.
There were two people in particular that my wife and I felt who exemplified everything the resort tries to put across. They went out of their way to make our stay the best it could be and it was greatly appreciated. Andy who can normally be found producing the most refreshing smmothies you are likely to get at the Revive Bar, there was never a minute where he was not checking all guests to make sure everything was good and if they needed another drink, even in the pouring rain! He also took the time to help me with my spanish which was brilliant and all in all is a great guy who provides a level of customer service you will rarely see. The other member of staff much like Andy is a great guy who also didnt mind me trying my spanish and also took the time to help me out. His name is Gabino and he normally works at Cafe Kafe during the day. Both guys excelled in customer service and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and we would like to thank them again and all the staff at the Playa Mujeres for making the time so special.

The hotel lived up to our expectations which were high, given all the excellent reports we had read before travelling. We would return without hesitation as the room, grounds, pools, service, food and drinks were all fantastic.
