Great location for beach and touring
We loved the jungle setting with all the wildlife roaming freely. We would watch the monkeys swinging through the trees from our balcony every evening. Restaurants good standard, especially enjoyed the Japanese experience! Good to be able to go between the two hotels and use the facilities. Very friendly, helpful staff. We walked into Playa Carmen several times during the day and took a taxi at night (very reasonable). Also walked in the opposite direction to see all the developments. Entertainment not really to our taste - mediocre singing. However, Zumba on the beach at 4pm every afternoon was good fun!
Highlight of the holiday for us was the Legends of the Yucatan 4 day tour visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum, Coba, Uxmal (the best) and Chichen Itza (mobbed after mid morning and spoilt by all the traders selling cheap souvenirs) We climbed 2 pyramids (Coba and Uxmal). Felt we had experienced the "real" Yucatan" rather than just the artificial beach resort.

Hotel excellent would recommend
The hotel was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, food first class.
There were two things that did not live up to excellent hotel and that was the transfer to and from the hotel. The transport to the hotel took 2 hours for a 40min journey and on the way back it once again took over 2 hours and the coaches air conditioning did not work, I felt quite ill when we eventually arrived at the airport. It was a great shame that that Thomas Cooks transfers did not live up to the excellent hotel that we had stayed in.

Well what can I say.... If you go say hello to Ricardo in the dinning area by the waterfall he has the biggest smile in the world
Thanks Ricardo and all the staff you make are holidays fun

We can't wait to go back to the Mexico!
Best holiday ever! Mexico is the most amazing destination and the Iberostar Quetzal was the perfect hotel to spend our time. The facilities and service was superb and the location is to die for. We can't wait to go back to the Mexico!!!!!!

Delighted to return to Quetzal
Returning to this hotel after four years, we hoped little had changed as we had fond memories. As it turned out we had nothing to worry about, we felt at home straight away, staying in the same room, looked after by Graciela ( the same room maid) as last time also.
The location is excellent, combining white sandy beach, fascinating jungle and a safe area to walk out into town.
Entertainment is good, great choice and quality of food and freindly staff -(especially Rosy our favourite cocktail waitress).
That said, we think the hotel would benefit from a referbishment of the rooms and the pool area sometime soon, but, that would'nt stop us from reccomending this hotel.

Had a great holiday hotel rooms could do with updating but they were clean, not very big wardrobe, no draws but a couple of shelves in the wardrobe. Hairdryer wand type in bathroom. Entertainment cheesy but a good laugh. Trips expensive. Coco Bongo an experience. Food excellent. If you have a late flight, pay extra for your room the courtesy room has no aircon and it is a waste of time getting a shower, you are hotter and sweater than before.

Honeymoon in Mexico
We had a fantastic stay at the iberoatar quetzal in may/June 2012. The service from stepping on the outbound flight to returning was 1st class. The hotel staff were so friendly, professional and hard working. The hotel grounds were amazing with fantastic animals roaming and very well kept gardens.
We would recommend this hotel as it was in a good clean, secure location with a fantastic beach. The food was tremendous for all inclusive and the added experience of restaurants were a great advantage. The hotel also has a nightclub which is basic, but is good if you want to have a few more drinks later on, the coolness of the air con is a bonus too.
We had an amazing time at the iberostar quetzal, my only wish is for an area nearer the beach for drinks on an evening. I think a bar closer to the beach would be fab.
I would recommend this hotel with Thomas Cook wholeheartedly!
