We had a brilliant relaxing week, the resort was perfect for us. A ten minute walk to the beach or plenty of pools to stay around. The waterpark was fab- might not h
ave gone if we'd had to pay but as we were all inclusive it was free to nip in and out! The staff were all lovely, food was good. The airport is very close but there are not many flights a day and the short transfer time was a bonus so the plane noise didn't bother us at all. The only downside was a lack of evening entertainment on a couple of nights, but we were there out of season and this didn't put a dampener on the holiday at all, we'd go back!

Just returned from the caretta beach in kalamaki and would highly recommed it to families with small children, the hotel and grounds were immaculate with an abundanc
e of free sun loungers around approximatley 6 swimming pools, the water park was outstanding, we chose the all inclusive option travelling with a 2 year old and woul ike to compliment the chef and all the waitrs for excellent qualit and service. Top tip!! Hir a car and visit vasilkos beach and travel north easterly to Alikanas fothe best beaches. Only disappoitment was the lack of enterainment at night. A truly enjoyable trip, will recommend to all.

What a fabulous, well maintained complex! We had a great holiday, we are a family of 5 with kids ages, 10, 12 & 14.Its a great complex, and Kalamaki is a lovely quie
t resort, with plenty of Resturants, shops, bars, etc running along a strip, right at the top of Caretta Beach, great location for walking out at night after your meal. Caretta beach, is lovely, the waterpark is fab, and good thing is, you dont need to be up at crack of dawn for a sunbed. The waterpark opens at 10.30am, so after breakfast, just stroll down with your towels, and wait ! BUT, if you dont fancy a waterpark day, there are 5 other pools you will always get a bed at. Its a great complex in the way that its in blocks with pools, and your not all round the same area, you all have poolside bars. Games room good too, Pool is FREE. Staff are great, very friendly and helpful ! No queing in Dining hall for tables or food, Food is great and plently of choice. |Our room was in D block, which is lovely, it was very accomodating too. 3 very genergous beds downstairs for kids, no camp bed, it waas a GOOD sofa bed, and upstairs was a double bed, both having balconies. Airconditioning was very welcomed, although some nights, we had to switch it off ! Very hot in Aug, not a cloud in the sky !! Would definately go back to Caretta Beach !

We went as a family of four to Zante & had never been before. We all had a wonderful 7 night, all inclusive holiday. The staff are very friendly, especially in the r
estaurant. It is a big complex, with different blocks & various pools. We were in the on-site water park every day [included]. Very clean & pretty. About 10 minutes walk from the beach & about 2 minutes walk to the main street, with shops, bars, restaurants etc. The airport is about 2 minutes drive away! I loved seeing the planes coming & going & they stop after a certain time of day, due to the preservation of the Loggerhead turtle, which lays its eggs on the beach. We would definitely recommend this holiday & friends who have seen our photos are interested in going!

Flights out were un eventful, and pleasant in a no frills way.
The Hotel was clean with friendly staff in nearly all areas. The accommodation was supposed to be a 2
bed apartment but did not have a lounge and the kitchen was so small you could no self cater in it. We went all inclusive thankfully. The water park attached to the hotel with free entry was very good and was a big hit with our 9 year old. The food was reasonably good but did tend to get a bit samey buy the end of the week. The drinks were local but of acceptable quality. The Coffee was disgusting, take your own.
The return flight left Zante on time and was going well until approximately over Paris the pilot announced that the company (Thomas Cook) have asked him to divert to Stanstead airport. He added that there was nothing wrong with this aircraft, and that there was a Thomas Cook aircraft on the ground at Stanstead. We Landed at Stanstead and were told to make our way to the bus stops were there would be 4 coaches ready to take us to Bristol nearly 4 hours away. We found the bus stops no thanks to TC who did not even send a member of staff with us. We then waited for the coaches and eventually set off for Bristol. We arrived in Bristol 4 hours late 02:30 instead of 22:30. We had people meeting us at the airport who had a wasted journey and then had to return in the middle of the night to get us. Buy the time we got home so late that I had to take an extra day off work due to lack of sleep. All of this is because TC did not want to put the people that had been waiting for the broken aircraft in Stanstead up in a Hotel, because Stanstead would have been closed if our aircraft had taken us to Bristol first. Thanks a lot Thomas Cook, profits first.

Flight with Thomas Cook was good and transfer to hotel only 20 mins so perfect when travelling with 3 kids. Accommodation was good and had plenty of room, maids clea
ned room everyday except Fridays. Food was ok, only a buffet restaurant which had various themed evenings. Evening entertainment could have been better, bingo every night was not my husbands choice but was ok. Not much entertainment in evening for kids so they were bored most evenings. Kids enjoyed Thomas Cook kids club and went most days and really enjoyed it on the 3 occacsions when there was an evening kids club event planned. Overall a nice relaxing holiday with easy access to the Kalamaki high road. One criticism is the way the drinks are served. The main bar staff were very friendly, however, as the drinks were served in small plastic cups there were considerable queues every evening. In my view if they served adult drinks in full sized glasses it would reduce the queues and not necessarily result in them distributing a greater quantity of alcohol. A self serve soft drinks station would also greatly reduce the queues.

The staff at caretta beach were very welcoming, the accomadation was suitable however on the compact side, we had a duplex appartment which mainly consisted of two b
edrooms on different floors however im convinced this was originally a one bedroom which had been adjusted to sell for more hence the cost.
Be warned , if you have a night flight the night that you fly is classed as the first day of your holiday despite not even being in the country therefore you will be expected to leave your accommadation hours before your pick up, which we were and had to pay 40 euros for another room which took several hours, the second room was better then the duplex, still had two roomd with an sliding door, if this had been explained better during the booking i could have saved some money.
anyway food was good, even catering for the younger ones with chicken nuggets and chips pretty much every day.
Towards the end of the holiday it was getting quite busy at the resort, and took ages queing at the bar for a drink, however there were several bars to choose from.
The flight back was an early morning flight which im sure was the club 18-30's, if you can imagine a family in the middle of a plane full of hung over teethe language was unbearable.
So all in all a nice break but will be more cautious of night flights next time.

We have stayed at Carretta Beach before but we were half board, our room was lovely but we did ask for a room in the hotel part before hand and i reccommend people d
o they same if they want to be close to the facilities.
The food was lovely and we all enjoyed it even my 16 year old. the water park was great but maybe if you spent every day in there it does get boring for older children and so we went to the beach or just had a wonder around.
The only downside was that after 10.30pm you had to buy your own drinks and the ques were terrible to get 1, also everything seemed to finish and be shut by 11pm so we would have to walk up to some local bars which we didnt mind as there great bars but you are spending more money when everything is supposed to be all inclusive.
The breakfast finished at 9.30am which we thought was a bit early but you could get snacks from 11am onwards.
We would definatley stop here again and i think because its their first year all inclusive they have had teething problems which will be sorted out.

We loved Zante the minute we arrived! Caretta beach is so close to the airport but not close enough to be a noise problem and it kept my husband happy as he HATES th

Best holiday ever, great water park
Date of review:1 Jul 2011
Due to the weakness of the £ against the euro and taking two children (7 and 13) we decided to book all-inclusive for the first time. We decided to book Zante becaus
e we had a fantastic holiday in Kalamaki ten years ago. Both our children love the water so the attraction of having a water-park on our doorstep that was free totally swung our decision to booking at Caretta Beach. In a nutshell our holiday was brilliant. The room was great and had sliding doors that separated our bed from our children (although we had to keep the door open so that they could benefit from the free air-conditioning). We had a balcony that overlooked the three pools and had a good view of the waterpark which meant that we could relax with a beer on the balcony and keep an eye on the children as they swam below us. The waterpark was fantastic. There were loads of sunbeds and the park was large enough to keep the kids more than entertained all day but small enough that you could see the children from virtually every sunbed. We received a wristband on arrival which meant that the children could queue themselves, show their wristband and order food or drink as they pleased without the adults needing to leave our sunbeds. Result! The food was excellent. Great choice. Changed everyday we were there (we only stayed for 7 days unfortunately!). The head chef and restaurant manager monitored everything very closely always walking around the restaurant to make sure everything moved smoothly. If required they helped behind the bar if the queue became too long. My son dropped his food all over the floor and there was no fuss and everything was cleaned up within 60 seconds. There was nothing that we could really fault. My only small moan would be that we arrived 30 minutes before we could check into our rooms and the receptionist did not invite us to go and have a drink or food or sort out our wrist bands just told us to sit down and wait. A minor irritation for a fantastic week away. We are now looking to book either in October or for next year.

We are a family of 4, with 2 boys aged 13 and 16. The Caretta Beach Hotel, although a 15-20 minute stroll to the beach, was a lovely hotel to stay in. All the staff
were very friendly and welcoming. The room was cleaned almost every day and the food was good. We were especially happy with our room as it was 2 storey and meant the boys had their own space and tv. Both rooms had balconies, overlooking the pool. Even though you probably couldn't be any closer to the airport, we didn't experience any noise problems with this. The beach was lovely and clean and the water clear blue. It was quite hot when we visited, usually 35+ most days, so it was better to walk down to the beach before it got too hot. A very good value, all-inclusive family holiday.

This was all of our first times going to Zante, the Caretta Beach hotel caught my eye first in the holiday brochure. All I was looking for was, All inclusive, good lo
cation and a kids club. What a great decision I made going there, couldn't ask for more!!! Food, drink, staff, location, kids club, water park and EIGHT swimming pools were all brilliant. Everywhere was clean and tidy, and brilliant maid service too. An added bonus was the transfer time of five minutes, and no the aeroplane noise did not bother you, lasted for all of a minute and that was it. All round a fantastic holiday, my six year old son loved it and now wants to live there!!!! Booking for next year.

The accomodation was good and the pools were lovely. The Food was good although the kids food was very repetative with very little healthy options.
We had a problem
with the drinks. On our first day we asked for diet coke. We assumed that as we were all inclusive this would not be and unreasonable request!! We were told that we could not have diet coke unless we were diabetics!! Me and my husband are not big alcohol drinkers and really only drink diet coke from the bar so this was a problem to us.
The Thomas Cook daytime kids clubs for the children were very good but found it to be non-existant during the evening apart from two nights where a childrens disco was held at 10.15pm - extremely late for a 6 and 2 yr old.
We also found the bar staff in the main hotel bar to be very rude and unhelpful. They seemed to get great enjoyment out of talking about hotel guests as they walked away from the bar.
The water park had great potential if they had enough staff to open all the water slides. Most days we went there and there was only one or two attractions open.
All in all we had a relaxing holiday but it did put us off from booking Thomas Cook family holidays again and we definately would not stay at the Caretta Beach Aparthotel again.

Had booked this holiday for the week before half term as our first holiday together with our 3 children. The short transfer to the hotel was great as the kids were f
ed up with travelling! We had a 2 room apartment on 2 floors which gave lots of space and 2 balconies. The decor and furniture seemed newly done and everything was clean with lots of towels and comfy bedding. The children loved the pools and we had a great time in the new waterpark. The food is excellent with lots of choice although sometimes it wasn't easy to know what food to put with what! This isn't a problem if you're happy with Greek salad though. The Greek night was particularly good and lots of fun.Evenings were relaxed with live music or a disco. Towards the end of the week the hotel got busier in time for half term - we'd got used to it being fairly quiet!! It's a quick stroll to Kalamaki strip with plenty of gift shops and bars. Overall a brilliant time was had by all of us.

We arrived in Zante and from start to finish we were not disappointed. The Hotel Staff were very friendly and go out of their way to help you. The Caretta Beach Hote
l is well laid out and offers plenty to keep you occupied, if you want to. Especially for our young Son who is 8yrs. The accomodation is clean and well presented. more than adequate for All inclusive. It is cleaned everyday.
The Food is very good and Staff were always ensuring that dishes were topped up. The way the buffet is laid out ensures you are not queuing can seem very samey but the dishes are always different and such a a vast choice and lots of local dishes. It was disappointing to hear people complaining and Adults taking off the childrens menu as they didn't like the choices If you want fish finger, chicken nuggets and chips don't go to Zante have a holiday in the UK!!!!
The swimming pools were clean and the addition of the new Waterpark was brilliant. If you wanted to venture to the beach the hotel run a small mini bus to and from the beach.
The bar staff were great and soon got to know what you liked to drink!!!
Thank you Caretta Beach for a Great Holiday :-))) Hope to come back sometime x

ZANTE IS A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND VERY PRETTY BUT KALAMAKI IS AN EXTREMELY QUIET RESORT WITH VERY LITTLE SHOPS, THE TAVERNA'S ARE VERY NICE ALONG THE TOP OF THE ROAD TO CA

THE POOLS ARE VERY CLEAN AND LOTS OF THEM. THE BEACH IS QUITE A WALK BUT THEY DO HAVE A FREE BUS SERVICE.

This was my second budget holiday with Thomas Cook and having had good accommodation in Egypt that time expected something on the same line.
Firstly I will be positi
ve and say the location is great, close enough to the beach and town and the Pools are also good for relaxing in and sunbathing around.
Now the room I would say when I first walked in it looked good, but that lasted about 30 seconds. On closer inspection my Self catering facilities were a microwave a kettle and a fridge that turned itself off when you left your room. The shower when I first looked was one of those fancy ones with multiple jets but as the door was missing on the shower cubicle they have fixed the flow to a head that sprayed in one tiny corner of the cubicle so the floor did not flood. The toilet had no toilet paper. During my 7 days there I had hot water for 2 of those days and this appeared to just be for my block as my friends who stayed in C block had Hot water the whole time.

Spent two weeks at the carretta beach hotel and even thou the hotel was good, clean etc I would not recommend it for families as you tend to get the over spill from
Laganas where they would be noisy coming back at night, shouting, swearing and banging on doors at the early hours of the morning often waking up my young daughter. they were also noisy round the pool swearing smoking in hot tub and even breaking a glass in the pool causing it to close for an hour. I just think that as its advertised as a family hotel then there should be no groups of teenagers aloud. The food was very good in the hotel, happy hour from 4-6 was good and Greek night was excellent but would not recommend the restaurant at the bottom of the road as you may be waiting for up to an hour for your food. The rep was really nice and helpfull and the ladies in the kids club were excellent and really good with the children.

For our first holiday together, my girlfriend and I were looking for something fun, relaxing and memorable but within a student budget. Caretta Beach Apartments and
Kalamaki in general certainly provided this and more!
The hotel can't be faultered with 7 clean and large pools, plenty of sunbathing areas, poolside bars, well kept rooms and a variety of entertainment. It is also a stones throw away from an abundance of gorgeous restaurants and is literally a two minute walk from the main strip. The hotel staff were very disciplined and organised but also polite and friendly, which was refreshing and definately lived up to the motto "arrive as guests, leave as friends".
In terms of the resort Kalamaki, it has a bit of eveything (except watersports but that is to be expected with the inhabitants of the endangered caretta caretta turtles). There is a good nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants, but not to the extent of neighbouring resort Laganas, but it is still very relaxing and tranquil without being too isolated.
All in all, for the price we payed the holiday went above and beyond what we could have ever expected, and will certainly take some beating. I would recommend the accommodation and resort to a friend without hesitation.

My best friend and I arrived at Caretta Beach in the early hours of the morning, we were met by a very busy but polite porter who checked us in and showed us to our
room. After a few hours sleep we hurried down to one of the many pools Caretta Beach have to offer, had a few cocktails by the pool (a few more in happy hour!) and soaked up the sun! Unfortunately that was the last of the sun for a few days but not the last of the entertainment! Caretta Beach was so entertaining that we only left the hotel twice in the 7 days we were there! They had karaoke, Mick Jagger impersonator, Greek Night, Pizza party (free pizza!), a soul singer and a rock night! During the day event organiser would come round with invitations to killer pool, volleyball and bingo! There was no time to be bored at Caretta Beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Caretta Beach to everyone and would definitely go back!

Accomodation was excellent. Arrived Thursday for a week & beds were changed Sunday. Towels were changed & floors mopped every day except Wednesday. Cleaners were ver
y friendly too. Pools were cleaned every day or late at night depending on which pool. Surrounding areas were also hosed down every day. Can not fault cleanliness of the complex at all. Thought drinks in bar were pricey, but then who want's to scrimp while on holiday. Staff very friendly, especially bar staff & had a brilliant night at Greek barbecue night on Friday. 12 Euros each which included full carafe of red or white wine & all you can eat food, well worth the money. Only had one meal in hotel as ate out at a different restaraunt every night. A beautiful island & lovely people. Have never been before but would not hesitate to return. Pandesia restaraunt which is part of complex serve wonderful food & have something for everyone. The menu is enormous, as are most in Kalamaki. Wish I had gone for 2 weeks. Ended up at Kalamaki by chance, only because our original holiday to Tenerife was cancelled due to Icelandic Volcano incident but very pleased with alternative holiday. Met an elderly couple who have been going to same hotel for past ten years & the staff kissed & embraced them as if they were family. 5 minutes walk to main Kalamaki road where everything is, so very central too. One plus was that it was only 10 minutes from airport but planes only fly between about 6.30 & 10.00 at night due to turtles nesting, so no noise from planes during night.

Oct.09. Off to Kalamaki again for the second time,(going back this year too, same place, same hotel.) Going with Thomas Cook again flying from Glasgow, takes just ov
er 3hrs, not too bad. Nice meal and inflight movie, bit of banter with staff and other passengers, there in no time. Staying at The Caretta Beach Hotel, well run, friendly staff, rooms cleaned everyday, three pools,(at main block, more at adjoining blocks), snacks and meals,(half board option if you want), entertainment, and area for the kiddies, and pool tables etc. for the older kids. Small hotel shop and internet access also available. The caretta Beach is approx 200yds from Kalamaki,s main street, where there are a choice of various places to eat. Greek , Italian, Chinese, and British cuisine (sit in or take-away) are readily available. Kalamaki is a small resort on south end of Zakynthos. It has a long sandy beach which is mostly protected as it is where the Caretta Turtles lay there eggs, and is part of a national park. There is also a "Turtle Island" which you can visit. There are also some shops ,supermarkets and bars in Kalamaki but it is generally more low key and "traditionall" than neighbouring Laganas, which has more bars, clubs, etc. Zante Town is not far away with more shops bars etc. We like Kalamaki as its pretty laid back, but within easy reach of "other places and things to do". The island is lovely, although, if like us you go later in the year, you may witness amazing thunder and lightning storms at night,"Spectacular light show", but that,s the chance you take with the October weather. We love the place and the people, but remember what they say,"You can please some of the people all of the time......etc". Worth a look, family,s too.
