Great Hotel, Balcony Views Unexceptional Spent a very relaxed week at Conca Park from 10 August. Well run and highly well organised service. Rooms cleaned daily, with clean towels each day. Pool provided comfortable space, though the chairs and loungers were "reserved" by beach towels mostly before breakfast and ring fenced for the day - a habit we were forced to adopt. Plenty of shade among tables and sofas adjacent to the pool with excellent all day service from dedicated and hard-working staff. The food was self-service for all but one meal, but truly excellent - fantastic omelettes for breakfast and always plenty to eat. Staff always polite, helpful and professional. Two gripes, which in themselves would not put me off recommending: 1) The coffee is awful - for a country which clearly prides itself on quality coffee, the hotel has to do better than this. Little bars across the town of Sorrento offer sheer heavenly cups of coffee, but Conca park has opted for automated machines that deliver something that does not remotely resemble coffee. My wife tells me the tea was nearly as bad. And the all day cafe by the pool delivers the same. Come on Conca - do your bit for Italy and coffee lovers the world over! 2) We were looking forward to a room with a balcony, which to me implies a view of some substance. I imagined waking early to read my book with Vesuvius visible across a beautiful bay. So five feet to a cliff face that stretched into the heavens above was a shock to say the least. It never got any sunshine and with small stones falling off the cliff face from time to time as the blackbirds foraged in the vegetation, and zipping just past the balcony, it was not a place we used with any sense of joy. So, yes, go to Conca Park, it's great in many ways. BUT NEVER book a balcony bedroom at the back of the hotel; and, if you have any compassion for your taste buds, ALWAYS avoid the hotel drinks machine in favour of the delightful bars in the town. Lovely hotel overall - excellent food, very good staff and very good location Initial impressions were great - inviting entrance tunnel, lovely reception area, excellent food quality and choice, very nice dining room with lovely views, very good and on the whole, friendly staff. However - standard room for Thomas Cook guests is rather disappointing for a 4* hotel (I would suggest a 2* being more appropriate - they were tired, in need of an overhaul (plus noisy aircon which you couldn't set below 20c! TV with limited channels), but were distincly inferior to the rooms on the floors below). I guess those at the front with a view were compensated as ours looked straight out at a cliff, but we got an upgrade on a lower floor which was much more in keeping with the rest of the hotel - which included proper programmable aircon and much newer decor. It seemed to be just the Thomas Cook guests stuck on the top (6th) floor with the cheapo rooms which is a shame - not good for Thomas Cook (I would think twice about the standard at their other hotels ....), nor the hotel as this does put a dent into the 4* status in my view. Other than the initial hostel room, everything else was great, with bonus value - free digital safe, free aircon, free sunloungers at the poolside, and free wifi, plus reasonable prices for drinks. With the upgraded room I would highly recommend (but this should have been standard anyway - I am not a snob and would happily stay in a no star hotel if I paid no star prices!) July 16, 2012

Excellent I travelled to Sorrento, Italy and stayed in the Hotel Conca Park with a friend for one week. It was an amazing holiday and the staff were really friendly and always happy to help. The room was cleaned every day and towels replaced. Our room didn’t have a balcony and faced the cliff, I didn’t mind this as I liked the privacy. It did bother other guests who paid a supplement to change rooms for a better view and balcony so be aware of this when booking. The pictures on the website don’t do the hotel justice and the lounge has been updated with new sofas and furniture. I went half board and cant fault the food in any way, The evening meal menu was changed every day so you have lots of variety and once a week they have a gala buffet with live Italian music. If you wanted to have an early dinner, the tables in the restaurant would seat up to four people. The waiters will sit you with another couple but if you go to dinner at 20:15 hours then you can request a table on your own. I found that this was a good way to meet other people in the hotel and friendships were made. I travelled on the 3rd September 2010 and the first four days the sun was shining but the last three the thunder storms started so I would recommend you travel earlier in the year if you want guaranteed sunshine. Overall it was an amazing holiday, unfortunately due to the rain the one day trip I did booked “Blue cruise” around the Amalfi Coast was cancelled but when I spoke to other guests in the hotel it came highly recommended. I would also like to mention that if you haven’t travelled to Italy before then be warned to take lots of spending money as the drinks and shops can be very expensive. September 12, 2010
Well deserved Summer Holiday Sorrento was a place i had always wanted to go to and the Conca Park is a long established hotel, i am also aware that you need to be careful where you stay in the resort as you can be quite away from the resort, i was not disappointed. After a long journey to the resort and arriving in the evening very, very tired, we eventually were shown to our rooms which were really large, clean and with good facilities and after having a bit of a scare as to whether we would have a balcony or not, the room was perfect - it faced towards the cliff but that wasn't a problem because you still got sunshine into the room in the afternoon but it just made your room a little cooler. Its a lovely hotel, very clean, lots of areas for relaxing - a large pool and plenty of sunbeds and deckchairs. We went on a halfboard basis, and although the breakfast was a bit basic, it was enough for us, the evening meal had plenty of choices and all waiter service, once a week there is a gala night and for non residents or for those on b&b there is a charge of 24euros which i thought was a bit expensive for what you actually got, anyway the staff great - could not fault the hotel at all, its near to the centre of town, not far from the bus station/railway station - Sorrento has stunning scenery and there are plenty of excursions to either do on your own or via the tour operator, we went over to Capri on the jetfoil, it was easy to do, Capril is expensive but its worth the trip over, we also got the local bus and went over to Positano - this was 7euros return, worth every penny just for the bus journey alone. i would definatley recommend the hotel and resort and will be going back again.
