I came here as a single parent with my 6 year old. I felt very welcome and safe, in fact the whole area of Alykes made me feel safe and welcome. Such lovely people everywhere you go. I really don't want to go home! Room was basic but adequate and spotlessly clean. The snack bar was fab and the staff were brilliant. The restaurant, Linos was by far our favourite place to eat and the food was superb even for a fussy eater! All in all we love it and will be back. Fabulous ;o) x

Sun, Sea and Great Value for Money
My family and I were looking for a week a way from the UK weather. We couldn't have asked for a more family friendly hotel/resort. Hotel was perfectly positioned within a five minute stroll to the center of Alykes and the sea.
Excellent choice of restaurants at a very family friendly prices..
It is a quiet resort so if you are looking for a lively resort this is not for you..

good family holiday
We had a lovely family holiday at the Koukanaria Apartments. The Apartments were basic and clean but adequate for a weeks stay. The location is good with only a short walk to all of the amenities. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good and reasonably priced. Would definately consider going back another year.

as our first family holiday with the children i was very disappointed with a few aspects of the hotel, The location of the hotel was brilliant, the staff, Claudia especially was brilliant, the cleaners were very thorough and hard workers. I would however not book with the hotel again, we were made aware of a few things that were charged for, with a "small" fee, however if we were to get all the bits we needed ie, toaster, kettle, television areal and control, microwave and air conditioning we would of been able to afford a 3rd weeks holiday, it was just too much and when we had 2 rooms, it was doubled and we think it was far to much.. for that reason and that reason alone i would not re book with koukounaria.

great place to stay with children.
we stayed at this hotel from july 2012 for 2 weeks, this was our first holiday abroad, and we travelled with 22 other family members... what an amazing hotel and you can tell its a family hotel as they embrace you from the moment you arrive. Claudia, who works on reception, she couldnt do enough to make sure our stay was a very happy one, Effi and Panos who work in the poolside cafe are truly outstanding individuals, who, when we my daughter got poorly, Panos called into the chemist near where he lived, and got the medication that she needed... not many places have staff as dedicated as they are, then theres Mina.... she runs the restaurant, wow that girl works hard, shes a lovely girl too, heart of gold!! you will not be dissappointed!!!

Amazing 10 days in koukounaria
We have just returned from Alykes, Zante staying in the Koukounaria as a family of 5. The hotel was perfect for us. The arrival was nice and friendly, the room was large and spotless, the pools large and not too busy. The food at Linos was fantastic, I totally recommend booking half board as the restaurant is the best in the area and the service by Mina and her team was great! I had something different every night and it was always beautiful. Breakfast by the pool was nice, panos was lovely and smiley every day putting up with my awkwards son's breakfast choices!! And effi's pancakes were amazing - you have to try one!
I was a little worried by some reviews but as a large family we had a great room, I can't comment on the smaller ground floor ones. Ours was absolutely huge and the cleaners came every day which was a treat! The noise of the dogs and cockerels that I read about was barely noticeable once the balcony doors were shut so take no notice of those comments! it's just Greek wildlife!
The hotel sits on a slight, and I mean very slight hill away from the village which was nice. I have 2 very small kids and neither moaned about the 5 minute walk to the beach. You can get a horse and cart for a few euros for fun if you're feeling lazy! The beach is gorgeous, shallow and safe. The usual selection of water sports and beach bars. 2sun chairs and a parasol is 4-5 euros depending where you went but you could easily lose a day down there.
The resort is quiet and family centred, as was the hotel. They did a pool party and Greek night which was very relaxed and quiet so if you like peaceful family time you will like it here.
We paid €129 for 10 days air con for 2 units as the room was so large. I knew before we went so wasn't unhappy. And if you are there 10 days you pay for 10 not 2 weeks as someone else said. Anyway it hit 40 degrees while we were there so it was necessary to say the least!
Overall this was the best holiday I've been on for lazing on the beach, guaranteed sunshine, brilliant pools and a clean friendly hotel. I can't recommend it enough. We will be booking for next year, but maybe directly as we would want half board again and Thomas cook doesn't appear to give this option for 2013.
The Thomas cook flights were awful too, delayed on a plane at the end of a runway with 3 tired kids was not a good start!! We weren't even offered a drink despite a 2.5 hour delay. We were also delayed on the way home, shame it wasn't for a week so we could've stayed at the hotel longer!!
