Spent 2 weeks in Avra Beach and had a wonderful time. The hotel was very clean and the staff worked very hard at all times. The food was of a good choice and appetising and served in a well organised restaurant under the direction of the restaurant Manager, who organised all meal times in a professional and friendly manner. All the staff work very hard throughout the day to ensure everyone had a good time. Entertainment staff also work very hard, although we did not partake in many of the activities, but that was out choice.
The only criticism would be that they could do with extending the sunbathing area as it does become very crowded and additional sunbeds are needed
Would certainly visit Avra Beach again. We had a thoroughly enjoyable 2 week stay and weather was beautiful. The beach, although had pebbles, was a bonus to us and the water was excellent for swimming and right by the hotel which was definitely an asset.

not suitable for vegetarians
over all the holiday was lovely, hotel lovely and clean ,staff nice and helpfull.
room spacious and comfortable with a nice view.
only downside for me was lack of vegetarian food.even some of the vegetable dishes were stuffed with meat. not very pleasant for veggies like me. although my husband enjoyed the food , he likes all kinds of meat and fish.

The hotel staff in all departments were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. This was fortunate as the tour rep failed to turn up for the welcome meeting and it was the evening of the third day before anyone saw her. Not a problem for my husband and I as we had been to Rhodes previously and experienced all the available trips and knew how to get into Rhodes Town by bus. Not so good for the young couple holidaying abroad for the first time and only in Ixia for one week. By the time they made contact with Sophie, the rep, it was too late to book the trips they wanted to experience. Our first time travelling with Thomas Cook and we were really disappointed with their representative. The hotel however gets full marks for allowing us to keep our room ( still on all inclusive basis) for the extra day we were marooned due to the Air traffic strike - and AT NO EXTRA COST.

What we expected, no more, no less....
Arrived approx midnight, we were able to get a drink from the bar, however, there was no bottled water in room, therefore had to go to near bar to buy. Maid service not up to standard, were left without toilet paper on occassions, towels & shower curtain not replaced. Very dissapoibnted with sun lounge area (too much waste land, would benefit from some grass area where stone area is currently). Had to get up at 7am to get sun loungers by pool side which by this time had already been taken! Not good if you were staying for 2 weeks. There were many broken sun loungers which was quite frustrating. Air Conditioning not adequate for the size of the room. Food was good, lots of variety. Rhodes itself was amazing, especially old Rhodes town. Entertainment during the day was good, however, music seemed quite loud at times, not really something you want when you're trying to read a book or want a sleep. The entertainmet at night was really good, well done to Arto, Tibo, Max, Katie & Aniko, what a team...
Dissappointed having to move on last day to alternative room for late check-out. Also very busy road, not that many shops. No in-flight entertainment, boring. Overall good holiday, however, would not return to this particular hotel.

my wonderful two weeks in rhodes
The hotel was very nice all the facilities were excellent the hygiene was impecable the entertainment was first class especially the animation team they were brilliant ! although there was three in my family group there was actually seven of us travelling together to avra beach resort and everyone of us had a fantastic holiday to remember. The only real negative was the food selection which did not really cater for the fussy eaters in our group and also could be described as not very child friendly as far as the daily menu was concerned but i personally thought the food was quite good. The local beer on the all inclusive deal was of poor quality and we encountered a bit of friction with one of the bar staff because he didnt like the frequency in which some of us were returning to the bar for drinks, which we raised with the manager and the problem was settled to a satisfactory conclusion. As for the est of the bar/restaurant staff the level of service was second to none i would definitely recommend the avra beach resort and it is hoped that one day we will return to this superb hotel

Excellent early Getaway in Rhodes
I went on holiday with my wife and children(aged 10 & 13) in the last week of April. We arrived late at night and the room we were allocated didn't have a view. I asked if there was a spare room with a view and the hotel staff were very helpful. They found me a room with a view of the pool in a chalet. The entertainment staff were excellent and my wife & I were able to relax for the full week!! The Food was unbelievable, with loads of choice from Nuggets & Chips to Greek dishes. Even the sweets were worth checking out. I put on 9 lbs!! Evening entertainment was fun, especially after a few Avra beach cocktails. The only let down was probably the room. Pretty basic and not overly big for 4 people but the food, pools, entertainment & cocktails were a big plus. Forgot to mention the location- right on the beach and the views all brill. As you can guess a thoroughly enjoyable holiday was had by all!!

Had a lovely holiday at Avra Beach We thought the food was good plenty of variety. The fruit juice at breackfast was a little weak more like a very diluted squash but that is the only thing we thought wasn`t quite right. We liked the resort of Ixia it`s quite but only a short bus ride from rhodes town. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. Our room was cleaned daily with clean towels and we had room to sleep 4 so it was quite adequate for 2 of us.We are thinking of returning to this hotel we thought it was very conveinient for what we wanted to do...enjoyed our stay here and would be happy to return .

Return to Ixia
Travelled to Ixia May 26 to 10 June 2010. The hotel is not well lit at the entrance. Food in restaurant was fine but began to look boring and certainly recycled food from previous meal everyday. Wouldnt complain about recycling only that the Resturant Manager walked about with his head held high using his little machine to check the temperature of the food but it all tasted the same. Maid Service was very good. Also experienced a very moody female barperson who completely ignored me and served a man standing next to me because she had a tiff with a colleague. Talk about sexism and from a woman too. Snacks and drinks were of a low standard, we actually only drank water and the occasional coffee in the hotel and went outside for our alcohol which meant money spent on all inclusive was a waste of time. Futhermore the fact that you are charged for sunbeds on the 'beach' which is to the left and right of the pool bar is a disgrace. This is our 6th year in Ixia, in fact going back in September as the area is so relaxing and have stayed in various apartments and hotels but definitely dont think we will be back to this venue.
