great holiday getaway Parga is indeed a hidden gem. You can see why people return so regularly! Gorgeous food, especially if you eat off the beaten track... Lovely walks into the hills through olive groves and across the headlands. The staff at our hotel were friendly and our room was comfortable with everything you could need! Will return to Parga one day soon I am sure! October 16, 2011
Car free, kid free, haven It was bliss, the Acropol hotel was ideal for us and situated right in the centre of the old town, the staff were very helpful. Illy and George who work the bar and resturant are great entertainment. We had room number 20 which was probably one of the best rooms we have ever had anywhere in Greece, I really recommend you try to get it if you are staying in Acropol. Parga is an excellent base but Volta has the best beach and the water is really clear, from Praga to Volta is either a climb up and over or a 4 euro boat ride from the harbour, you can also get boats to other beaches all with crystal clear water. Parga, Hotel Acropol Parga is a great place to stay, but best outside of July and August as it turns over to the masses seeking fry-ups. Its a picturesque harbour with a labyrinthine old town with good shops and plenty of tavernas. The best of which is by far Ta Souli. The Hotel Acropol is very clean and very comfortable. It is also in a perfect location in the old town. However, it is overpriced and overated. Some people rave about the restaurant downstairs and the great nights they have had there. Thats great if the owners are your kind of people and they weren't mine. My husband is a vegetarian and their menu was not particuarly inspiring for him. We had one meal there and for the remainder we eat elsewhere, which was not popular with the owners. Until July the reception was not manned, in fact there was no one there at all after the cleaner had gone (who first served breakfast) There is no communal area, no lounge of course no pool. I think you could do better having an apartment with a pool and not spend so much. This all sounds negative. There isnt anything wrong, its just not worth the money. I would go back to Parga anytime, but before it gets taken over completely by British tourists outside of school holiday times. July 13, 2010
relaxing holiday in parga We stayed at the Acropol, what a lovely friendly place to stay. We had a suite which was really just a room with an extra sofa in but it was nice. Fly screens on all the windows were great and meant you could have air without the bugs. The restaurant at the hotel called Castello was fine dining and although expensive it was excellent food. We also ate at Maestros up near the castle and just a short walk from the hotel. It is brand new and serves excellent food at good prices. The resort itself is lovely and worth a trip. We had an excellent holiday. June 13, 2010
