by Tigga52 lovely location but not for anyone with mobility problems as on v steep hillside!
Lovely apartments and setting within level walking distance of three little villages with super restaurants which make visitors very welcome. The walk down to the main resort of Hersonissos is very steep, as is the entrance to the apartments(and there is no bus connectiong the two). However this provides excellent views!(though the photos are misleading as there is a mile or so and a town between Marni and the sea). As this was booked as a short break before I had a knee replacement it was not ideal and it should be emphasised that anyone who cannot manage steep hills (and I do mean steep!) will struggle.
At the start of the holiday we were dropped off at the beginning of the drive and had to climb the hill complete with cases in tow to reach Reception-then on up the hill to our appartment!
The accomodation, pool area, gardens and bar are all well kept and clean. The staff were great and despite the steep hillside location we would go again.
The Cretan people were lovely: they fall over themselves to provide a welcoming service and deserve our support!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aunty Well located beautiful and relaxing holiday
As friends who prefer the peace and quiet of the smaller towns and villages rather than the hustle and bustle of a busy resort these apartments were perfect for us. And the pool area right next to our apartment was relaxing and tranquil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chezray Superb holiday, better than expected.
This was a great holiday, ideal apartment, very clean, helpful staff. Went there to relax and chill out so not disappointed. Broke up the week with a couple of trips organised by the rep (not overpriced) which were very good

Koutouloufari is a modern village with a traditional charm, part way up a hill, just above Hersonisos and meets up with the village of Piskopiano. There are plenty of places to eat offering a variety of cuisine but mainly greek tavernas, we tried several and all were good .
Marni village is well maintained and kept clean throughout and has a fresh feel to it. There are tow pool areas with plenty of sunbeds both with bars offering excellent snacks and light meals. The staff are freindly, caring and fun. All the staff speak good english and laughed at my attempts to speak Greek..
Our sudio was well maintained the bed linen and towels changed frequently. We didn't cater in much but there is a frying pan, large pan and a little pan if you wish to cook. There was also an electric kettle, hairdryer and a full sized iron. Outside below our balcony there was a bush which in the cool of the evening gave off a lovely scent. Perfect for a pre evening meal or later.
The rep Steve (Sorry surname unknown is very helpful especially in an emergency. (I broke my arm on the 3rd day of the holiday). He was there in attandance every day and stayed a good while.. He offered good advice, ansered all my queries and concerns regarding my iminent operation on my arm.
I am most grateful (*****five stars to Steve), and also to Patricia from the Thomas Cook offices in Iraklionwho took time out to visit me during my stay in hospital to offer support and help and resolve any worries. A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU BOTH.
After my discharge from hospital I spent the remaing time around the pool to recuperate. the staff were concerned for my well being and lifted my spirits with being freindly and shared jokes.
The holiday was not as expected, but I was supported throughout and will certainly go back for the holiday that was accidently curtailed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Marni Village, from arrival to departure all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Marni Village is perfect for those who like a peaceful holiday as the village of Koutouloufari is very traditional greek and only a few strides from your accommodation. The people in the village were also very friendly and helpful and there is a good bar in Piskopiano which is only a 10 minute walk; called Cafe Nostos. For those wanting to head to the beach, this was a 20 minute walk down quite a steep hill; in hersonnissos - although we are not particularly beach people so often enjoyed one of the 3 pools at the Marni Village. If you enjoy nightlife you would need to head to Hersonnissos, which I imagine is quite lively in high season, we headed down there for one evening and it wasn't too busy as we were there late season, but we really only went here to see what it was like and to use the ATM, as there aren't any in Koutouloufari - you really didn't need to leave the village otherwise! Our only problem with our holiday was the quality of the accommodation, we booked a studio for two people (the standard, cheapest accommodation available through Thomas Cook) and found it to be very basic. The shower cubicle was a puzzle, as the doors aren't fixed very well, you get puddles on the floor, as the water runs down the back of the fixings and you could basically cook your breakfast whilst still in bed! Some of the old studios really do need some attention, but that said we have booked to go back here, but in a 1 Bedroom Apartment, which we are hoping will be a whole lot better, as some of the newer blocks look fabulous and they even have private villas at the resort too! If you like holidays spent in good company with good restaurants nearby, a couple of more vibrant bars and a quiet stroll around at night after your evening meal, this is the place for you - a great place for a bit of Greek tradition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jula Chillled out holiday Marni Village
We had been to Marni Village before so knew what to expect, it is such a relaxing place and the staff are lovely, lots of sunloungers around the pools available whatever time you arrived. Just a short walk into the village there are an abundance of lovely bars and restaurants in a typically greek setting, we ate somewhere different every night and didnt have a bad meal, the babecue at Marni village was a good night.too.
The only bad thing was the flight times which were a killer, it might be ok for the very young going to Maila for the party scene but not for us thirty somethings ....
