bigt999 Excellent week in a very nice location in Elounda, Crete
We stayed at the Elounda Blu Hotel which has stunning views across the bay overlooking the island of Spinalonga. The hotel is built on a steep slope which would be testing for anyone with mobility problems but the benefit is glorious views from the terrace restaurant and pool area. Elounda village is relatively unspoilt with many tavernas along the port frontage. Buses are available from outside the hotel to go to the town and from there to other parts of the island. The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. We were staying half board and found the food good quality and varied in buffet style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Maxwell Great hotel. Pity about the transfers.
Great hotel. Staff very attentive. good variety of food both Greek and International. This a good hotel to stay at. Only negative points were lack of hand rails on steps. Note that as pointed out this is not a hotel for anyone with walking problems and although the "Rules" say that men must wear long trousers at dinner a large number of men come in dressed in shorts and in many cases scruffy dirty tops the rule was not enforced. The big problem was our transfers to and from the airport. Our journey to the hotel took two and a half hours for a journey that could be done in less than an hour. Reason being that we went to almost all the resorts in the eastern side of Crete. The very large coach went down very narrow roads to about 10 hotels. We on several occasions had to find owners of cars to move them so we could continue. We were taken to the airport with people going to Birmingham who were to fly one hour before we were due to go to Manchester. Consequently 500 people were trying to book in at 4 desks. The queues were through the airport through the double doors and into the coach park. Then we were all told that Manchester passengers must wait while Birmingham people checked in. So we stood still for nearly 2 hours to check in. People told the Thomas Cook reps that they should have got the Birmingham people there earlier and it was obvious that TC were saving money on the cost of coaches at the expense of giving their customers a very uncomfortable time. We left our hotel four hours and 35 minutes before the flight time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bob999 A very enjoyable first experience of Crete
I am 83 years old and when I first arrived at the hotel I was using a walking stick. Yes, the drive leading up to it is a steep climb, but I managed it. By the end of the week we stayed there I had stopped using my walking stick, and have not used it anywhere since the holiday (now eight weeks ago). My wife and myself liked the hotel and found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. That in itself can make or break a holiday. We also liked the food, and the majority of it was very good, it was certainly more than adequate. Personally, I like ouzo and brandy and I didn't have any problem with quality of any of the drink either of us had while we were there. On the other hand, neither myself nor my wife are fond of cocktails and didn't drink any except for G&T.
We found the Cretans extremely friendly and will certainly return to Crete for more holidays and exploration.
As for value for money, the holiday was excellent. I didn't like the flight as the seating was cramped, but apart from that all was extremely good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Amelia17 Lovely Holiday
firstly... the hill that runs to all of the rooms is VERY steep, and unfortunatley we were right at the top... not too bad as we are both pretty fit but for elderly couples i wouldnt reccomend it - or make sure when booking that your near the bottom of the hill....
Its a gorgeous place.!
The asian resturant was really nice.
One thing was we booked as half board and then decided to pay to upgrade for the second week as we were there for two weeks... the moment we went to full board they changed from official brands such as malibu for cheap alcohol substitues... also the drinks themselves then came in plain glasses rather than the cocktail glasses covered with fruit and straws like before. ( this was really annoying as if we knew this we would probably not have paid for all inclusive as the cocktails werent good after this).
Also im trained in beauty therapy so was looking forward to using the spa/having a massage ... the prices are FAR too high so i didnt in the end..
Had some great days out organised by thomas cook.
Overall a lovely holiday :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by richard22 good hotel with very good Greek food
The hotel is on a very steep slope with lots of steps and does require the guests to be very fit and able to climb both up to the hotel and also climb even higher to the bed rooms. The staff are helpful and the best part of the hotel is the dining room where the staff are efficient, friendly and will take the trouble to please the guests. there are superb views of the bay and the island of Spinalonga. The bedrooms are basic and the bathrooms are very small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by julmal Fantastic location, great food and service. Thoroughly recommended for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
This is the sort of hotel that we have often gazed enviously at as we have made our way to a family campsite! The hotel was clean, tasteful and everything we could have wanted for our first holiday without children.
Food was excellent, pool lovely and entertainment good.
Would thoroughly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jay86 Very relaxing honeymoon. Beautiful place and lovely food
The hotel, location and views were amazing. The food was so good we didn't go to a restaurant because there was no need as food wouldn't be any better. The hotel as beautiful and modern. Very comfortable through out. Staff were very nice and helpful. The weighers at the restaurant were amazing at the job. Spot on with every detail. Elounda blu hotel is a hotel to visit. We have already told all our friends and family to go there. We will defiantly visit again

Rated 1 out of 5 by Watch1 Not 4*
Hotel was previously 3* and now sold as a 4*. It still is 3*. Not up to the standard expected.
On a positive note staff were excellent.
Hotel should not have been advertised as 4* in the brochure.
