FAMILY HOLIDAY AT REEF OASIS RESORT IN SHARM EL SHEIKH EYGPT
THIS HOLIDAY STARTED AS IT MEANT TO GO ON. WE ARRIVED AT 1830 HOURS AND ONLY MANAGED TO GET A ROOMS AT 2230. ONE ROOM WAS AVERAGE THE OTHER CRAWLING WITH ANTS AS WELL AS DEAD COCKROACHES ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR AFTER MUCH ARGUING WE EVENTUALLY GOT ANOTHER ROOM. THE FOOD AT THIS RESORT IS TO SAY THE LEAST DISGUSTING. THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT US SANE WAS THE FANTASTIC CHILDRENS WATER PARK (WHICH CLOSED TWICE IN THE AFTERNOON) AND THE BEAUTIFUL CORAL REEF. IF YOU ARE NOT TO GOOD AT WALKING BE VERY CAREFUL GOING TO THE BEACH AS THERE IS A GIGANTIC HILL TO GO UP AFTER YOUR DAY ON THE BEACH SO BE WARNED. WE HAD A GREAT POOL SIDE STAFF MEMBER AHMED WHO GAVE GREAT SERVICE ALWAYS A SMILE AND VERY CURTIOUS

Superior I think NOT
We paid for a superior rooom in the New block which we did not get. There was only restaurant open for most of the week. Then a second was opened later when a party from of Egyptians cam to stay. There was only one pool open The jetty to the coral reef was closed. We did not get the facilitites we paid for. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately this was beyond their control as the Management apparently hadd already informed Thomas Cook that the facilities were not all available the week before we got there. The superior room we were given had tiles missing from the bathroom , The toilet waste pipe was showing and all grimey. I would not call this superior! The best thing about this holiday was the staff and the service that they provided. Thomas Cook representatives could only apologise but could do nothing without head office.

2 Week Holiday in Sharm
All in all an average holiday but not great and in the future I would certainly spen a little extra and go to the Caribbean instead.
While the holiday was nice and relaxing overal it did not have a "specialness" to it. The seats on the flights were tiny and utturly uncomforatble. I am 6ft, average build and I didnt fit in any particular dimension! The staff were all good though.
At the resort, it was pretty but the service was poor. The food was all very samey and it was not particularly sanitised in the restaurants. I saw them drop a tray of chicken on the floor and simply pick up the pieces and carry on and the restaurants all had nasty smell lingering around them. The bar snacks were good though.
As for Egypt, I was dissapointed. We went to Cairo to see the pyramids, and while they were amazing, Cairo iteself was horrible. Rubbish was piled in every street and no-one seemed to have any pride or care about the place at all. All the locals constantly badger you for money, and I will certainly not be heading back to the country any time soon.
Overall as I said at the start, save a little harder, spend a little more and have a much better holiday in the Caribbean.

Fantastic Relaxing Short Break in Eygpt
This resort has it all, a brilliant selection of swimming facilities, including 22 pools, a water park and of course a well equipped beach area with access to the red sea where you can snorkle and dive. We were upgraded by the hotel to their Palms Resort, which is the superior accommodation, which was very spacious and comfortable. I should mention this is the second time I have been to this resort, the first time we stayed in the standard accommodation, which was very clean and comfortable and for us quiet and ideally placed between the beach and the reception and main dining area. Overall I would rate the whole complex as superb, everyone is polite, friendly and happy to help in any way they can, everywhere is spotlessly clean. The only thing you have to get used to is to remember to tip your waiters, room cleaner and anyone else that serves you, we just tipped £ coins at a time which is very acceptable to these persons as they all work very hard

3rd time to this hotel, 2nd time with TC
Obviously, the fact that this was our 3rd visit to the Reef Oasis Beach means we like the hotel. We have never had a bad time there and love every minute of it. The only change from previous visits was flying with Thomas Cook rather than Monarch (return leg only though). I have to say that I am not a fan of Monarch. I find the seats extremely uncomfortable and the legroom minimal. Thomas Cook had about the same in terms of legroom but the seats were more comfortable and had higher backs so my head was supported and the overall experience was better. Thomas Cooks flight options are marginally cheaper too. Nothing major wrong with Monarch as an airline but I just hate their seats. Wouldn't lose sleep if I had to fly with them again but given the choice I'd fly with TC. Other than that the whole week was excellent, we had no complaints. Can't wait to go back again next year, hopefully with TC if they get round to getting it on their website!
