Fantastic easy access for sea life and exploration
The hotel has an amazing setting looking across the sea to an island that changes colour as the sun sets at different times of the day. The gardens are beautiful, set down a gentle hill, falling towards the sea. Although we stayed in August the slight sea breeze and numerous pools made the intense heat of the desert manageable. The easy access to the sea, coral and amazing sea life was breathtaking. The rooms were spacious and if you were lucky enough to have a sea view as we were, perfectly situated to watch ships go by and the gentle rocking of the ocean waves. The variety and quality of food at the Melia Sharm and the rushed atmosphere of the large dining room unfortunately did not reflect the 5 stars advertised. The staff in the Hotel, especially the indoor bar were a strong asset, they were always friendly, generous and curious, no matter what time in the day. The air conditioning could have benefited for being a little cooler and a request was needed by us to have the hard beds exchanged for some softer mattresses. However, this was done quickly and with no fuss. The Promenade offers a welcome distraction in the evenings for a stroll to a small number of shops to purchase items to take home.Thank you for a lovely relaxing holiday. We would love to return in the future.

Wonderful sushine holiday
We have just returned from a week at the Melia Sharm Hotel at Sharks Bay - the hotel is lovely and so are all the staff. At times the food was rather bland but there was plenty of it. Value for money it was an excellent place to stay.
The only downside was guests from other countries treated mealtimes like a stampede.

great holidays in sharks bay
We stayed in melia sharm for our honeymoon in 2012 and enjoyed it so much we returned for our anniversary in may 2013.
The hotel is stunning with amazing views. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean. The staff are so attentive, helpful and friendly, especially in the restaurant and bar. Salem, Ab Del Waheed, Mina are amongst the memorable ones.
We enjoyed our 2nd stay at Melia Sharm so much, we have booked to return a 3rd time for our 2nd wedding anniversary in May, and can't wait to get there.

Great Hotel with very friendly and helpful staff
This hotel offers excellent value for money. The food is very good, with lots of choices the staff are amazing-friendly and helpful throughout the entire hotel-waiters/barmen/pool attendants/room service/etc....
Would definitely recommend staying here.
Have lunch at the O Grill restaurant-free for Thomas Cook clients-Hassan is a brilliant waiter!
Entertainment maybe not the best in the world-but the overall experience is very good.

Nice hotel, shame about some of the staff. Would not return to this hotel
From the very start of this holiday we were pestered and harassed by locals all day everyday by the pool and the beach, selling spa facilities, massage, diving, boat trips etc. the people seemed really nice at first, having a laugh & a joke, but I was on my own one afternoon and the boss of the yih spa got right in my face intimidating & grabbing me. Making hand gestures whenever I saw him. It spoilt my holiday to say the least, I would not go anywhere without my partner after this happened. 2 other couples we met at the hotel were ripped off by a spa employee chicko, he took money from them for an excursion to the old town, they never went on the trip as he had gone back to Cairo. They didn't get there money back. The hotel it's self was lovely, the staff in the bar & dining area could not do enough for you, very pleasant all the time. Bar person Mina looked after us the whole week we were there, he's a great asset to the hotel. Our room unfortunately was shabby, there were cracks in the walls, rust on all the taps and they leaked. Marks in the bath. Broken toilet roll holder, toilet didn't flush properly. Only half the bulbs were working in our room. We did report it, but no one came to replace them. The food was nice even tho it was very repetitive. This hotel was not a 5* in my opinion! more like a 3. If the hotel would ban people pestering and harassing people, and the rooms in better condition, it would be a lovely place to stay.

Exceellent value for money
Stayed here for one week from the 5th of June. The weather was excellent, albeit very hot already! The main hotel itself is situated in very well kept gardens, and has a number of pools. At this time of the year it wasn't very busy and so sunbeds would have been easy to find. I'm pleased that we upgraded to The Level though, as I would not have wanted to mix around the pool area with some of the other (rude) guests. On arriving at reception, the hotel called us to oneside and proceeded with our booking first, as we were staying in The Level. This went ahead quickly and we were given a mini-tour, although the gym still took some finding. The rooms were clean and adequate...tbh we don't spend a lot of time in the room. We had our private pool, used only by those in The Level and this was a godsend, given the entertainment at the other pools. Our sun loungers were positioned everyday with towels and were ready for us going down. Also it was waiter service by the pool for drinks and Amir is just excellent! As the food in the restaurant is very samey, and mostly meat and vegetables, we decided to eat breakfast in the Level, lunch for free as a Thomas Cook guest in the O Grille and then eat in the main restaurant at night. The Level and O Grille food couldn't really be faulted. We used the a la carte in the Italian; nice food but very small portions! As we did not go to the entertainment I cannot comment on this. Overall, The Level was excellent value for money and well worth it. Bear in mind that there is not much around the hotels in Egypt, so unless you dive/snorkel/have enough time for long trips there isn't much to do. A trip to Soho Square was a let down, and Naama Bay is very Blackpool! All in all, I'd return if we wanted a relaxing break and excellent weather.

Lovely hotel with great views.
We went to the Melia Sharm with another couple of same age and I have to say we had a brilliant time. The staff couldn`t do enough for you and the hotel it`s self was lovely. Had read reviews before we went but I really don`t know why people moan, especially about such trival things. Food and drinks were good, staff friendly, hotel clean and well maintained, especially the gardens. The area Sharks bay was lovely especially good for snorkling. Although the hotel was set out over a vast area which was ok for us I wouldn`t recommend it for people with mobility problems. Over all would deffinatly go back and would happily recommend.

location is excellent, staff very good, food average.
a great place for singles, couples and families.its location is excellent.staff very friendly and good at their jobs. i believe this was the best area to be staying in sharm as quiet during the day and the pools and beach are superb. the hotels outside areas are 5 star. my only negative comment is we choose this hotel for its 5 star rating to try and avoid poor food practices.we have stayed at many 4 star hotels with similar set ups and in all cases the food was better than this hotel. it is definitely value for money but I wish we had paid more and had a better restaurant.
