Eating Out
A visit to the new 'souk' at the Madinat Jumeirah hotel is a real must, or try afternoon tea at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. To finish off your day with something really spectacular and different try the Al Muntaha restaurant at the amazing Burj al Arab hotel suspended 300 metres above the sea!
Due to its multiculturism, Dubai has a large range of restaurants to choose from. Expect to pay higher prices for food and drink here than in the centre. For a truly unique holiday in Dubai go to one of the night food markets, where you can pick up Arabian snack food such as a shawarma for mere pence. For sushi and Japanese food, go to Sushi at Grand Hyatt Dubai, Oud Metha – they reportedly have the best sashimi in town.
Café Arabesque serves exactly what is says on the tin. In its sophisticated layout, you can try any flavours, from Jordanian, Syrian and Lebanese at higher than average prices but at excellent quality. Dubai’s only Vietnamese restaurant can be found on Sheikh Zayed Road. It's high-end stuff only here – including sea bass and specially seared steak and sauces.
The Rupee Room at Dubai Marina serves Indian food, with British curries. The food here is ok, and the prices are reasonable for central Dubai. Golestan, in Garfhoud, is a bustling Persian restaurant where people that enjoy loud music and shishas can go. Chelo sultani is a recommended main to eat here.
If you want a taste from home, Churchill's City Centre Hotel Residence English theme bar has basic grub and entertainment.
