Stayed in block 10 ground floor, could be noisy late at night when young people return from bars /disco. Advantage was walk out of room to the pool.
The room was clean every day maid, a couple of of dollars ensured a new towel decoration everyday .
The hotel was about 50% full, no bookings for the restaurants and the food is absolutely fantastic. The beauty is if your still hungry you can eat in another or order room service (24hr).
Had champagne breakfast in room on day of our anniversary and special meal in French restaurant at night. The steaks are beautiful.
We stayed in the Excellence Riviera Cancun 2 year ago, this is just as good and cheaper, with less flying time too.
It is a chilling/relaxing hotel, so don't come looking for action.
The Michael Jackson show is brilliant.
To come here, you will not be disappointed .
The management came round asking if our stay was as expected and if we had any problems. For my trouble to tell him it's. A great place to stay, he sent a bottle of champagne to the room.
Get it booked.

Excellence by name, Excellence by Nature
Check in at Manchester quick and efficient, leg room on the plane was good and other food and facilities on the plane were very adequate. Trying to find the transfer bus at Punta Cana airport was a bit of a 'scrum' but nonetheless the hours transfer was fine. The welcome at the hotel was good with refreshing towels and champagne. Again check in was quick at the hotel, although I failed to see the benefit in paying $100 a day to join the Excellence Club and throughout the holiday after speaking to other guests this seemed to be justified. Our Junior Suite had a great view over the Cascade pool, our only complaint throughout all the 2 weeks was that the room had a slight musty smell. We did raise the issue with the rep and the maid service just opened the windows!
Take a small plug in air freshener just in case. Musty rooms seem to be a regular complaint in humid climates.
The rest of the holiday we thoroughly enjoyed. Of all the 8 restaurants the French one (Chez Isabelle) was by far the best followed by Spice, the Asian one. Breakfast and lunch buffets were fabulous, the amount of choice was huge. Staff and service throughout the 2 weeks were great, a few dollars go a long way to making a very good service, excellent.
Whilst we were there the sea was quite rough, but remember this is the Atlantic! If you want a calm sea, choose a resort on the South coast / Caribbean side of the island.
Would definitely recommend this resort.

Excellence Punta Cana is Excellent!
This place is fantastic. The place is beautiful, staff helpful, food wonderful, and entertainment good - what more could you want. The rooms as extremely spacious and lots of little touches with great views.
Staff on hand 24 hours, they really spoil you. Nothing is too much trouble, if you can see it, or want something special just ask and if it's possible it will be sourced for you.
Cannot praise this place enough. For a relaxing holiday with something to do day or night if required, this is the place for you. You can be as active, or inactive!, to your hearts content. The management work very hard to ensure that there is something a bit different on every day i.e. BBQs on the beach at lunchtime, to dinnner dances on the beach on a evening.
We enjoyed it so much we are booking another Excellence property for next year, but in Mexico.
