Get holiday lovely staff great food Loved my holiday at the riu mambo in the dominican republic it was very relaxing , friendly staff, rooms clean but dated , beach amazing would go back in a heart beat October 11, 2012
I had an amazing holiday! This is the second time we have been back to the Riu Mambo and each time I thought it was excellent. The staff are so friendly!! I will be booking another holiday to the Riu Mambo in the future. December 1, 2011
DISAPPOINTED HOLIDAY WHAT A LET DOWN AFTER GOING TO RIU MAMBO TWICE BEFORE AND HAVING FAB TIME, WE TOOK OUR GRANDAUGHTER WITH US FOR THE 1ST TIME AS WE HAD SPOKE ABOUT IT SO MUCH TO HER. WE WERE NOT INFORMED ABOUT THE WINDING DOWN OF THE MAMBO DUE TO LACK OF HOLIDAY MAKERS AND THIS RESULTED IN SERVICES AND FACILITIES BEING CUT DRATICALLY AND AFFECTING OUR HOLIDAY WHICH WE HAD PAID FOR BUT NEVER GOT,AFTER AN UPRISING IN THE HOTEL LOBBY ,THE MANAGEMENT REFUSED TO RE-INSTATE FACILITIES AND SERVICES TO US HENCE RUINING OUR HOLIDAY AS THESE THINGS WERE NOT THERE AS DESCRIBED IN BROCHURE. THE STAFF DUE TO UNCERTAINTY WERE NOT THERE POLITE SELVES AS PREVIOUS YEARS THERE WAS NO ATMOSPHERE AT ALL AROUND THE POOL OR IN THE HOTEL IN GENERAL. THE ANIMATION TEAM TRIED 100% TO KEEP ALL ENTERTAINED BUT WITH STAFF BEING SENT ON VACATION EARLY THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO CUTS IN STAFF ,WOULD WE GO BACK YES IF WE COULD HAVE ALL THE THINGS WE PAID FOR THIS TIME VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED ALL AROUND THIS HOLIDAY,WE HAVE PUT A FORMAL COMPLAINT INTO THOMSON HOLIDAYS AND RIU MANAGEMENT AND AWAIT THEIR RESPONSE PERHAPS NEXT YEAR June 23, 2011
First trip to Dominican Republic An excellent holiday. Hotel eceptionally clean, antibacterial handcleanser used outside restuarants & tiolets, Cleaning staff constantly making sure everywhere is clean which reduced the amount of insects in the hotel grounds. Plenty of choice at meal times, all waiters extremeley helpful. Bedrooms spacious but maybe a littel dark. Would advise the use of a room safe, keys are obtainable from the hotel reception. Some very good trips can be arranged trough the tour rep - the mega trucks was brilliant for getting to see the local area & dolphin experience was also only a short distance away & was well worth the money (can buy a video which captures the swim with the dolphins). Nice beach to walk on from Riu Mambo to sister hotel -Bachetta. Would definitely stay here again June 7, 2011
riu mambo- we had a great time We went to Dominican Republic at the end of April. We had 3 rainy days but it was still very warm. Rooms are basic but very clean, we had air conditioning but we hardly used it as fan was enough for us. Staff was friendly, always smiling:) The best thing there was that they have a lot of sun beds by the pool and on the beach so you didn't have to get up early to reserve your sun bed, also you could use facilities of two other hotels (Riu Merengue and Bachiata). Food was nice as well. we had great time at Riu Mambo and i would definitely go back there in future June 6, 2011
Exceptional Holliday Exceptional Holliday This Holiday was amazing. The location is second to none. It takes about two minutes to get from the room the beach. Room is big enough and has a good bar .It was always clean. The choice of food was amazing and you can always find something new. The bars had a variety of cocktails and spirits so you can hardly try all of them in your stay. The best part was the entertainment program-they have activities starting from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. every 30 minutes and the best part was the night program. This was the best holiday we had and would recommend it to anyone. The weather was really hot, but you have the constant breeze from the ocean so it cools you down. Take lots of sun creamJ. The next door Riu palace was even better looking , but I would say that the entertainment was best at Riu Bambu-we had even people from the palace hotels coming here to have fun. June 3, 2011
Muture Young at Hearts Holiday Perfect, would recommend the Riu Mambo to any one. The Staff were excellent, nothing was to much trouble, we had a lot of fun with the restaurant waiting staff Luckily, brilliant weather, with a pleasant breeze by the lovely sandy beach, allowing sunbathing swimming, snorkelling ect, which made for a complete relaxed two weeks. Drawback. The flight from Gatwick via Glasgow on a Wednesday, takes about 13 hours, then of course the trip back is the same. Avoid if possible, especially if you have a Husband who isn't too well. April 14, 2011
February in the Riu Mambo Be warned this time of year a lot of Canadians holiday most are LOUD, some thought they were on an 18-30s holiday. Our 2nd visit to the mambo, you get what you pay for, plenty of food and drink, staff helpfull and friendly, at this time plenty of room on the beach and loungers. The entertainment team were annoying rather like a 1950s Butlins without the knobbly knees. The optics in the room have been removed so the fridge has coke etc and you have to bring the alchohol from the bars, which isn't a problem but a downgrade from last time. The big moan by everyone was that you were charged $3 a day for use of the room safe being warned that your insurance wouldn't be valid without doing so. A bit ridiculous it should be included in the price like other hotels. Overall we had an excellent break and as I said you get what you pay for March 3, 2011
