We recently came back from a week at the Ascos Hotel, leaving the weather aside as it was out of our control, we had a mixed weeks holiday. The Hotel it's self was a clean pleasant hotel, yes it needs a little TLC, but overall not too bad, the service was very good whether around the pool in the restaurant or in the lounge there was allways someone asking if you wanted anything to drink. the food was ok if not similaly done each time. The area it's self has not much to offer, if you like visiting places a higher car is a must, there are local buses which are frequent but to get further a field a car would be easier. Overall we had a nice holiday but would visit another part of the island if we went again, as there are so many places in the world to see we would rather go somewhere new

Family Holiday at Ascos Coral Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus.
My wife and I went on this Thomas Cook holiday with our Son, Daughter in Law and 2 grandchildren, aged 10 and 13. We stayed for 2 weeks 31st March till 14 April 2013.
I had read a few poor reviews and was a little worried before we went but had a great time.
We were greeted at reception by a pleasant man and woman on reception who allocated us at no extra cost the rooms we had previously requested by email, 2 adjoining rooms on the top floor overlooking the Pool
Yes, like many have stated the hotel does needs a make over. Which appears to be ongoing, the reception and the public areas like the bar are really nice and clean. The rooms were dated and in need of decorating. This redecorating as already started in the rooms when they are not busy.
The pool area and the grounds the hotel are in are quite large. It has one large outdoor pool and a child's paddling pool. It also has an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. The hotel also has its own beach, although it’s not a sandy beach but the grounds lowering to the sea below the hotel, it is a pleasant and peaceful area to be in. The hotel has one tennis court, pool table, table tennis court, and some arcade machines.
If you have a pool view / sea view as we did you'll get some good views. It has to be said however you will be over the entertainment area in the evening so if you go to bed early you may hear it for a little while; it never affected us, even when we went to bed early. The bungalows are down the hill towards the sea, these are well away from the entertainment and area quite secluded, but not advisable for older people or people with disabilities are they are down a relatively steep hill. The rooms are air conditioned and worked effectively especially as the sun faced our balcony in the afternoon and evening.
The all inclusive bar was good, the staff were good and accommodating. In the daytime, the bar used was next to the pool, always had 2 or more staff on, so queues were rare. Drinks next to the pool were served in plastic glasses for obvious reasons. At night the bar inside was open and table service in the entertainment area operated, which was a first for us. The wines and beers were okay, The spirits were none branded ones as you'd probably expect, but they weren't stingy with the measurements.
The entertainment was provided daytime activities and on the evening a variety of entertainments including quizzes, bingo, cabaret, karaoke, and game shows.
We have stayed in an all inclusive before and I was happy with the quality of the food. Breakfast and lunch were served in the downstairs restaurant next to the pool, with an outdoor eating area. Evening meals were served upstairs in an inside air conditioned restaurant. In the evening when you gave your hotel room number at the desk you were shown to your table and drink orders took. The table service and removal of plates from your table was very quick, and the staff were eager to please. I'm a fussy eater but enjoyed the meals I had. As with many all inclusive the menus became a little repetitive in the second week, but only as you'd expect.
The location of the hotel is great. It's a in a quiet area down by the sea, but two minutes walk is a strip of bars and restaurants and little shops if you fancied a change. 5 minutes walk away is a relatively large supermarket. On the road with the restaurants are many bus stops and for 1 euro per trip or 3 euros a day you can get an all day bus ticket that can be used until 11pm for access to Pathos. Pathos on the air conditioned buses is about 30 minutes or less away, There is only one bus number 615 that goes past on this road, one that goes to pathos bus station and one that comes back, you really can't go wrong. Pathos is full of bars and restaurants along the sea front, shops, department stores, and water sports to get involved in.
I give our holiday here 4 stars, I can honestly say I would go back. There was clear evidence that they were doing up the hotel which is positive, the staff are excellent you have to remember that English is not their first language and they have to cater for all nationalities so be patient with them.

Had to make the best of a very poor hotel
My partner and I went to the ascos beach hotel for a week at the beginning of April . When we arrived we were given a room that was ant infested and smelled very bad. When we went to the reception to ask for a room change the receptionist said that the room hasn't been cleaned yet! I Insisted that we needed a room change or wouldn't be staying at the hotel the receptionist was very rude and said no! I asked another member of staff who eventually changed our room. The room was better but still very dated. We were on an all inclusive board basis but the food was horrendous so had to eat out most days. Would not recommend this hotel at all we were very disappointed.

Lovely hotel in a very good area. Close to shops and the bus route. Lovely walks to go on. Friendly and helpful people in the hotel.
Beautiful area to stay. Weather was perfect temperature, we went in May. Good food, clean rooms, lovely grounds.

Not Good Value for Money
The hotel reception was very welcoming. The reception staff were very attentive at all times and always smiling. Our room was very dated with the wall paper starting to come away, but the air con was a godsend. The pool area was very good, having an adult area as an option. The restaurant was good, but some of it tasted the same with a different name. i liked the dresscode for men that they had to wear trousers. The entertainment was very dissapointing for the rating of the hotel. Whilst Paul was an excellent all round entertainer, he was the only 'one' and it was much the same every day & night, very 'anticipated' . The professional shows were a big dissapointment as they were 'unprofessional' and did not provide any atmosphere for the guests. We have had many excellent holidays with Thomas Cook with far better amenities than the Ascos Beach and have always wanted to return on previous holidays. I believe the holiday was overpriced and the star rating should be 3* only. I am not generally this critic, i normally have excellent comments on all previous holidays. Unfortunately, i have one other thing to add, there is no lighting outside the reception area in the hotel grounds to go to the street, we found t hisquite dangerous as there is a slight rise with uneven ground. We will book again but not Ascos Beach.
