Rustic charm keeps bringing us back
Beaches to die for, staff who will do anything for you, 8th visit for us! You will never go hungry nor thirsty but be realistic, this is a communist, developing country. Before you moan a the rep or your tour operator, ask nicely for your problem to be resolved! Rooms are clean and comfortable. Amazing views and ocean/beach to die for. Great atmosphere....already looking to book again for next year!

Fantastic Xmas & New Year Again
This is our fourth time of staying on this complex, and i have already been looking ready to book again this year for Xmas & New Year, but flights are making it nearly impossible without doing 3 weeks. Which we might have to do oh what a hardship that would be (not)
The staff are really friendly, the food is very good, there is always something to eat (Even for me, as I'm very fussy), and it is all nice and clean, but paintwork could do with a lick of paint. But you can't have everything.
The only problem we had was bites from sand flies, some of us got bitten more than others, so anybody know how to prevent them biting could give me some advice please

ATER OUR VISIT LAST YEAR TO SOL GUILLERMO WE DECIDED TO SHARE OUR HONEYMOON WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. ON ARRIVAL STAFF RECOGNISED ME & MY HUSBAND FROM LAST YEAR GOOD START. WE HAD THE MOST BRILLIANT HOLIDAY THE BEACH IS AMAZING, THE STAFF INCLUDING GARDNERS, CLEANERS AND MANAGERS WERE BRILLIANT. THE HOTEL IS A LITTLE TIRED AND THE MANAGER IS WORKING VERY HARD TO CORRECT THESE SMALL DETAILS. VALUE FOR MONEY IS FANTASTIC THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD. WE WOULD NOT HESITATE IN RECOMMENDING THE SOL CAYO GUILLERMO TO ANYONE. ARE WE ALL GOING BACK? MOST DEFINATELY. THANK YOU TO ALL.

Location, location, location
The beach looks like your dream holiday location, beautiful white beach, turquoise sea - fantastic.
Rooms clean and tidy and maintained.
Staff - all - pleasant and happy
Only let down for us was the quantity and quality of the food - limited for vegetarians, and fish & meat is only cooked to order - we like to eat and go!

Paradise but not posh...
We had a great week at Sol Cayo Guillermo overall. Cayo Guillermo is just beautiful and I can't think of a cheaper way to experience the Caribbean. The beach is pure heaven and this hotel has the best there. Our sea view room allowed us to look (unexpectedly) at the sea every day and for this reason, I would say that the trip was a success.
Also great was the pool area and the endless rum cocktails. Things run out often, but we were happy with this as it is literally the middle of nowhere and Cuba.
The down side is that it is very 'package holiday'. We were really shocked by the leg room and service on the outward flight. We had only had scheduled transatlantic flights before so we'd expected a bigger plane. To make matters worse, the return trip was on a 767 hardly big enough for a trip to Mallorca never mind a 10 hour flight.
Another thing that would put us off a return was just the general atmosphere of the package holiday experience. I sound snobbish, which is ironic as I am appreciative of the value, but the place is really geared to customers who enjoy cabaret that involves male guests dressing up as female singers and even Black Lace.
We're just not used to this type of holiday and it was a little tacky in contrast to the setting.
The food is often complained about, but actually, we found it was just the canteen atmosphere of the dining room. We rarely got served drinks and it just doesn't have the class and calm of a restaurant, which we enjoy on holiday. The al a carte restaurant didn't have any tables whenever we tried. We did, however, love the lobster shack on the beach. It was brilliant but we did end up spending a lot to escape the football shirts and clatter.
We didn't get any towels for the first two days, which made sunbathing and swimming uncomfortable.
I sound whiney, but we did enjoy it and did consume our weight in daiquiris.

Great for people who want to spend quiet holidays
Overall hotel wasn't bad, don't think it should be 4 star, will agree more with 3. Stayed 2 weeks over the Easter break. The best thing was the hotel beach (absolutely stunning). Hotel pools are more for kids, because very shallow Food was tasty, but not much of the choice. Good choice of the alcohol, bar staff made any cocktail (best cocktails serve in lobby bar). Rooms were clean enough. I prepared myself for mosquitoes, there was none but there was something in the beds, like bed bugs or something because every morning we were waking up with few bites, repellent spray didn't work unfortunately.
Two bad things: when we arrived in the hotel, just before 6, rooms weren't ready and we had to wait 2 hrs after 10 hrs flight which was very inconvenient. Second thing, constant problem with the towels. If you going over there, make sure you bring your own beach towel.

Stunning beach at Sol Cayo Guillermo
We had a lovely time at the Sol hotel, but you have to be up early to get a sunbed on the beach. (before 7am)
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were always spotlessly clean. The one area that we feel could be improved was to ensure that the food was hot at the main food stations. They were good if you went to the chef's and got it cooked fresh but we didn't think that any of the trays were heated so the food goes cold very quickly . It was luke warm at best
