Hotel Castell de Mar would benefit from a refurbish but everywhere very clean. Staff very helpful and efficient. Some of the bedrooms have been modernised, but not o
urs. The spa area was excellent. You will be allocated a table in the restaurant on your first day, for breakfast and evening meal. Everyone seemed to eat quite early so always queues, hence restaurant always closed quite early. Food was adequate with plenty of variety but it was a bit tedious after a week, even breakfast. It would have been lovely to see some really authentic Spanish food. Average age of hotel guests 55+. Ask for a high floor. Having self catered for several years, must confess prefer the freedom it gives and the opportunity to try different restaurants.
Resort is good for leisurely walks. Beautiful beach. Amazing sunrises.

We stayed at this hotel for 14 nights from mid August and had a fabulous time.
The hotel welcomed us with a chilled glass of juice on arrival and directed us to our
2nd floor rooms. We were overlooking the street however you could see the beach in all it glory!
My husband broke his foot 3 days before the holiday and the management at the hotel were so friendly and helpful asking if there was anything they could do to help.
As it turns out we had everything we needed within the hotel or a very short distance away.
It is a predominantly German visitor base however DO NOT let this put you off !! It was the most friendly hotel I have ever been too. It always put me to shame when people of all generations go out of their way to speak in English.
On our last day a Dutch visitor lost his wedding ring in the pool and everyone + I mean everyone got up to look for it, all nationalities, young and old.
The pool area was big enough for the hotel, always clean and has plenty of sunbeds at all times of the day (what a relief!). There is also disabled access to the pool. As a none user I had never realised how many other hotels we have visited that hadn't had this facility!
Next to the hotel is a reasonably priced Spa, great for lunch, drinks, snacks etc. There is also a Burger King next to the Spa kids meal 4.50 euro (with a toy and ice cream!)
The main street out the front of the hotel is full of shops, bars and places to eat. If you are looking for British the ones to mention are, with the hotel behind you turn left down the main shopping street head to the Sportsman for good quality and cheap food, English football, drinks and service. Alternatively head right down the main street to the Rose & Crown for normal bar service, yes you get up and order your own drinks! pub quiz at 9pm - not too hard we even managed to win... They both also do Karaoke
As we were half board and the food was so good at the hotel we only ate out once at the evening. We headed into Cala Bona port it is walking distance we took a taxi though 7 euro each way. The meal was great quality and very reasonably priced 90 Euro for 2 adults and 1 child, 3 course + bottle of very good wine.
Due to the husbands injury we didn't go to the beach however it is a stones throw from the hotel with plenty of sunbeds, the sea looked clean and very blue and there was always a nice breeze.
There was free wifi in the hotel, just ask reception for the code. More British TV channels they we can get at home without SKY and a fridge.
One downside I found the beds a bit hard however it didn't really stop me sleeping and I am sure if I mentioned it to the hotel they would have fixed the issue!
My test of a holiday would I recommend and yes I definitely would!

This was our second holiday in Cala Millor having previously stayed in 2009. Though like many we try to avoid going back to the same place twice we had no regrets in
doing so.
Location:
The hotel is situated right in front of the beach - ideal for those with young children, nothing worse than the long walks to and from the beach. The sea is crystal clear. As you walk along the shore you can see the small fish swimming along. It's great for snorkeling.
For those of you like us who try to get away from the typical birts abroad mentality (loud, with unruly kids) then this is the ideal place for you.
The area is very popular with German tourists but this shouldn't put you off. They drive up the standards and as such everything is very well maintained and very clean.
Hotel:
Rooms are very nice and clean. Food is excellent with a varied menu that includes plenty of fish and salad. For those of you trying to watch that waist line - avoid the deserts (they are heavenly).
The Rep:
Guess there had to be a downside somewhere and unfortunately it was the Thomas Cook Representative. During in our 11 day stay we only saw her once. And this was only because we had the hotel contact Thomas Cook for us due to a problem we needed to discuss with her. Don't let this put you off because at least the hotel staff will look after you very very well.

Excellent can't fault it. I really can't and believe me I am not know for my generous compliments. The only complaint if any was the fact the Hotel was full of Germa
ns so all the entertainment was mostly in German. However this didn't bother us as we just wen down the road to the Cala Bona Hotel and joined in there
.
However I do think the reps were just useless what ever we asked they they didn't know. Luckily the Hotel reception staff were bril. I lost my bag on a local bus and they found it for me. I am a single mum with son 9.
The weather wasn't great but we visited, Porto Cristo, Manacor , Arta and Palma all by bus. We had 4 days out of 7 that were ok. Food Good and believe me my son is picky and the pool great right next door to the beach.Room overlooked the pool lovely. You can hire bikes and ride up and down Cala Bona /Millor and you have BBC TVand SKY and ITV1. I have travelled a lot to package holidays and usually wouldn't go back, here I would go back tomorrow. The waiters great, cleaning staff great. Nothing too much bother I would highly recommend this place.I would go back again.

We have really enjoyed this holiday and would highly recommend the hotel and the resort.
The hotel was really clean and the facilities very good indeed. The rooms we
re of a good standard, most had a sea view of some sort. The food was great; there was a constant supply and it was of a high standard and range.
The pool area was well maintained and of a good size. It had both shallow and deep ends, which was great for our two 5 year olds and the other children, as it meant that adults could easily swim without being too disrupted! The children's pool was also very good for little ones, with it's own shade.
The proximity to the beach was brilliant and the beach itself fabulous. Long and sandy with a gentle slope - meaning the kids could play safely. There was good mix of bars and restaurants too - would definitely go back!
