Experience the casual and formal side of cruise holidays onboard the majestic Celebrity Summit, a Millenium Class luxury ship from Celebrity Cruises.
One of the first ships to enter the Celebrity Fleet in the new millennium, Celebrity Summit has undergone a recent refit to ensure that the style and the facilities on board can rival any ocean liner afloat. It has retained its ‘wow factor’ with an eleven deck high atrium and new features such as the AquaClass staterooms and iPad menus.
Destinations and Itineraries
This is an American cruise line and the Celebrity Summit doesn't stray very far from home. From July until October, the ship sets sail from the dramatic landmark of New York harbour on a series of cruises lasting ten days and seven nights to Bermuda. After leaving New York harbour, the summit spends two days at sea en route to Bermuda where it spends the next three days, offering the chance to visit the island’s many attractions, including the Royal Naval Dockyard and the maritime museum. The ship then heads back to New York City.
This voyage is repeated until the beginning of September when the change in the season creates an opportunity for longer cruises of 14 nights on board as the ship heads north from New York to Canada. The itinerary gives the chance to witness the spectacular colours of New England and Canada in the fall that has made the region famous all over the world. Ports visited include Portland Maine, Halifax in Nova Scotia, Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island, and an overnight stay at Quebec City. The ship then heads back down the coast to New York.
At the beginning of October, San Juan in Puerto Rice becomes the ship's new home for a southern Caribbean cruise that takes in five ports. St Croix in the US Virgin Islands is the first port of call, followed by St Kitts in the Leeward Islands, Dominica, Grenada, and back to the US Virgin Islands - this time St Thomas before returning to St Juan. The itinerary is repeated until April next year.
The Celebrity Summit has established a reputation for tastefully decorated public rooms and extensive sports facilities, helping cement Celebrity's reputation as a provider of a quality cruising experience. Its recent refit has ensured that when it comes to refinement and recreation, the Summit stays on top.
There is plenty to keep passengers active during their days at sea. The Celebrity Summit has two pools out on deck and one indoor pool with a sliding glass roof, as well as four jacuzzis. Continuing the watery theme, the ship's Aqua Spa has panoramic ocean views. Facilities for aerobics, a gym treatment rooms and a beauty salon wait inside -there is also a sauna and a steam room. Sports facilities include a basketball court, compact football, paddle tennis, volleyball, a golf simulator, shuffleboard and a jogging track. Children won't be bored thanks to the Fun Factory for youngsters and a Tower Club for teenagers with a video arcade and activities organised for every day.
Although spacious, the Summit is actually one of the smaller ships in the Celebrity fleet. The liner has 975 cabins, more than half of which have a balcony. A further 223 have an ocean view. When each cabin is fully occupied, the ship can carry 2,449 passengers - creating a ratio of one crew member for every 2.4 passengers. The cabins on board are well-sized and equipped with a minibar, a safe and interactive TVs that passengers can used to book excursions. Twin beds can be converted to a double and all bathrooms are spacious with good sized showers.
The array of choices doesn’t get any smaller when considering dining options either. The AquaSpa Cafe offers healthy eating choices and at Qsine the latest technology is harnessed in iPad menus. The ship's main restaurant occupies two levels and can cater for all passengers in two sittings. Alternatives include the Normandie restaurant, incorporating a classic cruise liner décor and first class cuisine. Dress code ranges from casual and comfortable during the day, to the occasional formal evening when men are required to wear a dinner suit or a dark suit and ladies are expected to wear a cocktail dress.
You will find all the information you need to know about what is on each deck, find your accommodation, which deck the pool is located on.
