Accessibility Statement
At www.thomascook.com we appreciate the importance to provide a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or the technology that you use to access the internet.
We work hard to improve the accessibility of our website, taking guidance from many of the available standards and guidelines. We strive to meet level double A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.
Website Features
Font Sizes:
You can change the font size of text on this website by changing settings in your web
browser:
Internet Explorer:
Select the View tab, then Text Size, then choose the size you wish to use
Firefox:
Select the View tab, then Text Size, then Increase or Decrease
Links:
Rather than using 'read more' or 'click here', wherever possible we have strived to make text
which links one web page to another web page relevant to the page behind the link. For example,
a link saying Turkey holidays will take you to the Turkey Holidays page.
Alt Tags:
Wherever possible we have assigned 'say what you see' alt tags to images so that even if the
image is not visible, the gist of it can be ascertained.
New Windows:
Clicking on certain links on our site will cause a new browser window to open to enable easy
navigation back to www.thomascook.com. Examples of this include:
- Adobe pdfs (see www.adobe.com for more
information)
- links to third party websites
- links to other websites in the Thomas Cook Group
Potential Accessibility Barriers
Whilst we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility, it is
not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. Current instances that we are aware
of include:
- areas of the site with external supplier content
- use of header tags (this will be changed shortly to enable more logical tabbing)
- colour scheme may not provide enough contrast for complete readability (currently under
review)
- certain action buttons require javascript to be able to move to the next page
- the search panel pop-up calendar requires javascript to select dates (however, dates can be
manually inputted using the keyboard)
- forms are currently not all labelled in a way that screen readers can identify them
We are continually making active improvements to our site to remove these potential barriers,
so please do keep checking our site as over the next coming months.
